BC SPCA South Peace

Update to my previous rating.....our family believes in getting our pets from rescues and giving the wonderful souls in their care a second chance at an awesome life. Recently we found an adoptable dog through this location and after a week of debate, I called the shelter to inquire about a date when we could meet the dog. I was told there were lots of applications for this specific animal and I would have to fill out an application which I did. A few days later I received an email telling me that the dog in question was in transit to another location, to keep checking the website to see where she was because they did not know where she would end up other than she would be south of Dawson Creek and there was no guarantee that she would be able to be shipped to my location. What the #&%#? Why on earth would they send a dog suited for a winter climate with plenty of options south to a warmer climate that could prove to be an issue for the dog? How is that preventing cruelty to animals? The only reason this location got 2 stars is because the dog was not starving on the street and was being fed in a shelter.

This place never answers calls or sets up meetings. Then if you do get a hold of them, they tell you they’re trying or short staffed only to see the dog has been sent down south. It’s honestly the worst service. They would get more adoptions locally if they would quit sending dogs away and actually let people come meet them.

Somehow our family dog left our house in Prince George one night and ended up in Dawson Creek at this institution. They were an absolute pleasure to work with and did everything they could to let us know about circumstances, etc. Great people.

Employees are rude and randomly decide not to open. Will tell you they have space then when you get there to drop off animal they will tell you they don't if they don't feel like doing the intake paperwork. Find a different animal help organization to donate to because with how lazy the employees here are i doubt the animals are properly cared for.

Friendly staff. Wanting to help but not enough room in facility to help all the strays in our town.I hope they get more funding and are able to expand the building for the growing community they support.And I hope people will spay and neuter their pets so the spca doesn't stay overloaded with unwanted pets.

My family and I are super interested in a dog but we live 13 hours away and we want to ask how we can learn more about him or meet him but no one is replying to us and answering the call it's just automatic voices. We hope you can answer our emails or calls because we really like this dog :(
