Stuart's Bakery
This bakery has a large selection of baked goods on offer, including many cakes and tarts all invitingly on display.I tried the butter tart, Portuguese tart and the chocolate pecan tart. Each of the tarts were ok, the bases of the tarts were a little thick and the fillings were too sweet. The Portuguese tart filling was not so creamy and seemed a bit curdled.Whilst there is quite a selection that look good on display, I can't say that the pastries were particularly great and especially for the higher price.

Stuart's bakery boasts that they've been around since 1980 but their products taste as though they haven't baked anything fresh since the 80s.They keep products on the shelves for so long that items get sweaty. I bought a date square and no exaggeration, it was actually wet to the touch, almost sweaty. No bakery should sell items like that. And their quality control is lacking. No one likes biting down on huge chunks of fruit pits (beware their date square!)It's unfortunate because their selection looks great but waiting forever in the line for Lee's Donuts is so much more worth your time and money.

I had a raspberry tart and an empire cookie at this place. 8.95 CAD for the tart but not much can be done about that, raspberries on their own are pretty pricey after all. The berries on the tart were juicy and pretty fresh as advertised, the Empire cookie was nice as well. I just found the crust of the tart a little too hard, it, along with all of the other components of the dessert still tasted great.

We ordered a whole rainbow cake fora birthday, and it turned out beautiful. It was very sweet (with a lot of icing,) but was still very tasty. If you want to order a whole cake, you should call in advance.

Tons of variety when it comes to product choices here from cookies to tarts to cakes etc.. The products are all quite visually appealing. I had the flower shaped sugar cookie and it was very tasty, simple, sweet, and buttery. Also tried their carrot cake and fruit tart which were both good but I'd say they look slightly better than they taste. Kind of like the baked goods you get at a higher end grocery store kinda thing.

Visually quite appealing, the desserts here may be lacking some small touches to match image and taste. Creme brûlée, for instance, is almost tasteless although looks great. Lime tart was good but the bottom was really difficult to break. So, everything could be better…

Tried the tiramisu and black forest cake here at Stuart's. They were both great. The black forest cake was moist and tasty. The tiramisu was good, but could be less soaked because it seemed too saturated. As you can see from their displays, they have so many goodies that it's hard not to gaze and want a sampling of each. Glad I could try some while I was visiting the market.

Nice shop within the Public Market. Purchased some scones and a couple of baked good desserts (red velvet cake, chocolate decadent). The scones were tasty, and a fair size for $3.95 each. They likely taste best fresh on the day-of purchase. The cakes were rich and decadent. The red velvet had a nice balance of cake to cream and was strong in flavor. Each were $5.95.There was an initial issue after I paid where I realized I was overcharged for fruit tarts instead of the scones I asked for, but it wasn't a huge issue to get refunded. Unfortunately my order was made at a till where the items didn't display outwards to patrons. Pro tip, if you're buying multiple items, do the addition before making payment or have them recite your order to avoid confusion. Would like to come back to try some other treats, it's a good place for those with a sweet tooth.

My wife had a craving for a strawberry tart, asking friends in a Facebook group some mentioned Stuart's. Needless to say, the place lived up to the hype. Their selection of pastries is amazing.

Stuart's is my favourite bakery in Vancouver. All of their cakes and pastries are delicious - it's impossible to pick a favourite, although if pressed I would have to say the Almond Croissants and the Cinnamon Buns. You can taste the high quality of the ingredients they use and the care that they put into their product.
