This is a great place to stay, especially with kids. We enjoyed a nice view of the water, my kids loved the pool and little park area. Cottages are clean and have everything we needed. We even enjoyed a campfire on the river. The owners were very warm and welcoming. We will definitely be going back. It was a great little getaway.

We were very pleased with the resort, everything was accommodating. We were concerned about our specific needs (wheelchair accessibility) but the owners upgraded our cabin and made it easier for us. Although our stay was short we enjoyed our getaway and will definitelygo again next Spring. We highly recommend this resort to anyone because of all the conveniences nearby as well as the friendly welcoming by the staff and owners.Thank you.

Our family loved our stay and will definitely be back in the future. The staff was warm and welcoming and made every effort to make us feel comfortable. Our cottage was adorable and perfect for our family of 4. The kitchen had everything you could possibly want and the beds were very comfortable. Our children loved the swimming pool and the Iroquois beach was only a short drive away. There was lots of space to run around on the lawns and a playground and toy cars to play on. The view of the St Lawrence was spectacular and made for a gorgeous evening sitting on the dock, at the campfire or enjoying the sunset from our porch. We also enjoyed our day trip to Upper Canada Village which is only a short drive as well. I highly recommend this beautiful spot!

The bad reviews on here are definitely from people that are expecting far too much. The cabins were very clean upon arrival, yes dated and rustic, but that’s the cabin feel! The owner was very nice and accommodating. We had everything we needed to cook and BBQ. The property was very nice and there were lots of outdoor toys for our 1 year old to play with. Morrisburg was less than 10 minutes away if we needed something, and we spent the day at the beach there. Very nice beach. The weekend we spent there was very quiet in terms of other guests, and it often felt like we had the property to ourselves! The only downsides were that unfortunately the beds were quite uncomfortable. Bed was too soft, box springs very loud and squeaky, and pillows hard. The main road to Iroquois was also completely closed during our stay (will be for a couple weeks I think) so we had to go past Iroquois and backtrack to get there and then couldn’t easily go to town to get things. I only knew about this because of Google maps and then I asked the owner before we arrived what was up with the road closure. We didn’t go to Iroquois beach, like planned, because of this. The closure obviously was noones fault!! But it should have been a note on their website for people to read before booking, that’s all :)

A 3.5 hour drive from Toronto, just remote enough to feel disconnected from the busy life of the city. Our stay happened during COVID, therefore once re-opened the resort actually worked at 1/2 capacity which truly made it so relaxing and less crowded. The cottage itself is charming and rustic, anyway you come here to spend time outside therefore the luxury of the cottage itselft truly does not matter! It has AC, running water, and a roof - we were all very very happy. We were in cottage 7!The site is so spacious, beautiful, and peaceful. The little bay and the water access to the st lawrence had a beautiful view but most importantly, the boating equipment (kayaks, canoe, paddle boards) were TRULY a gem.About the other comments regarding bedbugs, or the rude owners I can say that this was definitely NOT our experience. The mattresses actually had bedbug proof mattress sleeves therefore nothing to report there. The owners were both very very welcoming and great at conversation, very cultured and open minded to our multicultural group. Everything was lovely. My friends and I will DEFINITELY be back next year, and the other years to come. This place is the little corner of heaven you seek when you're sick or the city and fast-paced living. 100% happy campers.Thank you Doran Bay resort for amazing memories and your beautiful scenic views!!!!

We had stayed at this absolutely lovely, tranquil resort for approximately 3 weeks in September while our Insurance Company was repairing our home from Winter Storm damages. I can not say enough about the staff and especially the Owners Sim & Bert who went above and beyond to make our stay feel like we were at home with family. We will never forget the gracious way we were treated nor the incredible ways they tried to accommodate my disabilities and our pets. We will always recommend to people if you want to stay in a beautiful location with incredible people stay at Doran Bay Resorts. Lloyd & Donna

The good: Centrally located to be able to explore many places, 1hr to Kingston, 1hr to Ottawa 50mins to Cornwall. Property has a nice view, good pool for families, town not far away to be able to get Timmies or McDonald's or visit Canadian Tire or Giant Tiger if you need it. Appliances in our cabin worked well and the dishes and pots and pans were adequate for the job. Overall cabin was rustic but comfortable. A/C unit worked well to cool whole cabin as long as you keep the curtains shut and use fan to circulate the air further into cabin. The so-so: cleanliness of cabin overall was below average. Most of the linens were clean, but bed sheets stained orange in some places. Overall clean when we opened the cabin, but found used bandaid stuck to a wall, dirt around door handles, brown stains on back of one bedroom door (feces? Blood?). Whether they thoroughly clean cabins top to bottom before next occupancy is questionable.BBQ broken on arrival. Owner did repair but disappointed BBQ not checked for operation prior to our arrival as we were told it had been having trouble previously.WiFi is low band with multiple users, so sometimes was OK and sometimes not. TV channels are multiple over air, so enough to watch that way. Furniture in living room is modest, looks to be from a waiting room previously, not uncomfortable but not comfortable either as the arms are tubular steel and can't really be leaned on.The bad: sketchy electrical in our cabin- cord for hanging lamp over table somehow run through the wall (plug on one side plugged into wall socket, switch on the other), not a legal application for this. Plumbing had gurgling sound when flushing toilets or water going down- questionable venting of plumbing.Owners are hard to get a hold of. Called multiple times when trying to book and only once did they answer the phone. Called their phone numbers multiple times no answer during what I would consider normal business hours while we were staying there and no answer, had to keep trying to get answers to questions.Website overall not very user friendly, not optimized for use on mobile devices. Had to find a laptop to book.Beds in cabin are hard as rocks, with the exception of single bed in the cabin we stayed in. When we were out we added a foam topper to one to make it more comfortable, couldn't sleep with my partner and had to sleep in the single bed as beds are doubles and against the walls due to space.Shower wall surround cracked and not properly repaired, tape over part of the crack.

Host was very friendly and informative about the area. The grounds are beautiful and being right on the St. Lawrence River was wonderful. Unfortunately, due to wind and water conditions it was not safe to take out a canoe or kayak. Recommendations: the bed in cottage #1 is way too soft (one of us slept on the futon), also just cleaning some of the cobwebs in the screens and on the deck would have improved the look—we cleaned them before we left). Water in the shower smelled like “rotten eggs” (?sulfur).
