It is a quality institution. Quality does not come from any one aspect of excellence. Different blocks of excellence creates overall excellence. Student housing is definitely an area where UoFT has laid emphasis on. They look after the residents very well. It is economical too. Being right in the centre of the city has its advantages. Everything is at a walking distance.

Best place to stay. You got to be lucky enough.

Best place to live for Graduate students coming with their families.

Can't beat the price for the location. We live on the 19th Floor, great north facing view. Security is good. But location, location, location!

Living at student family housing for 5 years was by far the best financial decision my husband and I ever made. The buildings are well-maintained, and while there are some minor issues it’s totally worth it for the money you will save, not to mention the location is unbeatable. Nothing but love for this awesome place for UofT students to live!

Fire alarms every week... not good for young babies. Since I am moving out I am rating it. It was a necessary evil/place but the high cost (1k$), roaches and general poor quality of the apartment make this a 2-star. Building alone is 1 star but location gives it 1 extra star. Admins assumed FH is a good value because they are cheaper than area condos (-20%) but they ignore the fact that we are students, graduate students mostly, living below the poverty line. This is not a privilege but a necessity. No temperature regulation, exposed heating, water damage that was never cleaned up, mold... did I mention cockroaches?! I was lucky to have few roaches but other friends moved out because there was a proper infestation. I have rented student housing for the same price in Geneva and the 1-bedroom apartments were cleaner and just as well located. Go figure!

I've seen a lot of students complain about the living conditions here but personally love it here. It's well maintained considering how old this building is. I love how the apartments are larger than nearby condo's. I love that there is an amazing daycare downstairs. Love being in downtown Toronto. I have no complaints.

The only advantages of this building are its price and central location, which puts everything, especially the University, within easy reach.However, it's worth noting that the building has noisy neighbors and you'll hear constant footsteps from the apartment above you. The hallways are often filled with the smell of cooking from other apartments, the fire alarm frequently goes off, there are monthly water cutoffs for urgent maintenance

I spent about 4 years at UofT family housing at Charles street west. It's very convenient in terms of being near to the university and it is affordable. However, the buildings are old and with minimal facilities. The rent increases every year and some sections of the buildings are infested with chrocs.
