Kumon Math and Reading Centre of Ottawa - The Glebe

My Christopher started with Kumon (Glebe) in June 2018 on the recommendation of his school. Christopher is 10 years of age and has many special needs. He started with the math program and we added the reading program in October 2018 upon the recommendation of Kumon. The school, Kumon, and myself have seen an immense improvement in Christopher’s ability, attitude, and confidence. He has the ability to learn and Kumon is supporting his progress very well. I explained to Christopher that smart kids go to Kumon and he bought in. To maximize his time for fun, Christopher does his Kumon while participating in the “before and after school program” at his school. On the weekends, we sit together while he does his work. Christopher is very proud of the opportunity to do extra work (surprising, I know!). He tells me that Kumon is helping him at school and other parts of his life. We’re receiving tremendous support from the Kumon staff. I highly recommend this program and this location. Thank you to everyone who is supporting us. “It takes a village to raise a child”. My 7 year old daughter started her journey with Kumon only 3 months ago and she loves it. She’s much more confident with math and she applies the concentration and repetition she’s learning with Kumon to other aspects of her life. It’s so nice to see her excited about math!

Kumon has been very beneficial & instrumental for my grandson’sReading/Writing/Math. Ms. Sanjit expertise and her support team really madea difference in my grandson’s learning abilities. We signed our daughter up in the fall for Grade 11 tutoring. They started her at the Grade 2 Level and theyonly got her to the grade nine level 8 months later. She has now finished grade 11 with essentially no benefit from Kumon. I asked repeatedly to move her ahead so we are paying for useful tutoring. I just received one excuse after another. We were forced to sign a one year contract so we cont8nue to pay for nothing. Do not use this company. Private tutoring would be more beneficial.

The last 5 star review appears to have been posted by the instructor / owner of this tutor center which is self-promotion. Is that ethical?

Really happy with the support and services they've offered.My child was struggling with the grade six curriculum. We started with the Math program. After three months, his confidence blossomed as the light went on, and he brought home tests that were eyebrow lifting. How was this the same kid?We then added the Reading module (even though he is n the French system). The skills he is learning are equally applicable in his writing assignments and reflected in his grades.I am very pleased with their oversight and mindfulness to adjust the work into smaller packages when there is a more difficult passage.My child reports that he's happy that my grades have gone up"."

I enrolled my daughter in November 2018 for kumon in the Glebe because I was so disappointed at the level of support and follow-up my daughter was getting at her school and her progress in her grade was next to none. I felt with just a few months into the school year I saw my daughter gain confidence in her work and the teachers themselves were surprised at the jump she made in reading writing and in her math work too! I’m so happy with the staff and this location as they are close by to my residence and if I ever need to contact them Sanjit is always an email away and always prompt with getting back with me. I’m so happy kumon exists for my daughter and wish it was available when I was growing up as a kid in Ottawa.Looking forward for reaching newer milestones for my daughter.

My son joined Kumon Glebe in2017as we came from Asia, we took both reading and math program and my son likes it very much. Now he can speak and listen as a native person. He also has strong math knowledge that helps him always get high score in school math subject. The instructors at the center are very nice and helpful. We searched many after school programs but really find Kumon is the best choice.

Our child has been with the kumon program for math and reading at the glebe centre for about 8 months.Good environment, professional and knowledgeable staff and head instructor.We started noticing significant improvements in grades after about 3 months into the program but we saw the most significant progress over the last two months. Not only from a grades perspective (full letter grade increase) but her resiliency when faced with failure, self-discipline, and self-motivation as well (she gets the work done herself without us intervening a lot and she's learned to better prioritize the use of her time).For us, the development of these soft-skills were just as important as grades and moving forward in the program. Very happy with the results.We've made it a family activity and work together with Kumon (which is how it was designed) and we're all involved in the process. Pushing our daughter to do the work when she would rather do something else and she pushes us to correct when we feel the same way.There are times when she has to repeat the same level because she finds it difficult and hasn't mastered the concepts and skills, but its part of the process and we work through that with her with the Kumon instructors. It's a team effort.Overall, great experience with the program, staff, and how it's administered!
