On August 14, 2017, Cam of Durham Windows (DW) inspected 2 windows that needed repairs. The first was a broken thermos seal and the other we were having a problem sliding the window opened and closed. Cam advised he would put in an order to have the first window insert replaced and to have the second window replaced in its entirety.When we hadn’t heard anything by October, we contacted Cam to get an update. He indicated he had sent in the order and would follow up on it. Vinyl Window Designs Ltd (VW) booked an appointment for December 15, 2017 to do the repairs, but it was cancelled due to one window being damaged.Another appointment was booked for March 14, 2018. The repairman arrived with 2 window inserts rather than a window insert and a new window. He noted the window seal on the second window was fine, but explained that VW would not do a total window replacement. If a total window replacement was needed, it would be DW’s responsibility since it would be an installation issue. Once he looked at the window, he found that part of the sash was damaged. He advised he would put in an order for a new sash.On March 28, 2018, I had not heard from VW, so I contacted Cam as he is my point of contact for VW since I bought the windows from his company. He advised he had been having problems with VW and his customers seem to be having more luck dealing with them directly. I advised I planned on posting a review of the poor service I had gotten to date, but wanted to ensure I had my facts right as to who was responsible for what. I requested all documents he had with respect to these repairs, which he subsequently provided.The following week, I spoke with Suzie, the service manager at VW. She explained that they have had problems with DW because DW deals only by fax and they often send them to the VW general fax instead of the VW service department fax. Consequently, there are delays in the requests getting to them and sometimes they don’t even get them. The first fax the service department received for my request was in November, thus they actioned it promptly given the December install date. She took full responsibility for the delay from December to March.DW is responsible for only a thermos seal being sent for the second window. Cam prepared 2 service request forms for the same windows; one dated August 14, 2017, which stated to replace both thermos, while the other dated August 15, 2017, stated to replace one thermo and repair the other window so it slides. Although he showed monthly dates on the forms on which he resent the forms, he did not consistently use the August 15, 2017 form, which correctly stated the work to be done. VW states it only received a request in November, which is the August 14 form that has the work incorrectly stated.Also I feel that I should not have needed to deal directly with VW. That is the responsibility of DW and is part of the cost charged when we bought the windows. That being said, if he is having problems with VW and he truly felt the only way we would get the work done was by contacting VW ourselves, he should have been contacting me regularly to follow up on the repairs. He has not once called to follow up or give us an update. I had to initiate all contact with him even after I advised him I was not impressed with his customer service. We will not be buying any products from DW in the future.

What a wonderful experience! Staff were courteous, friendly and professional! Job was done on time and to perfection! I had all my windows (but 2) replaced and all my doors. The workmanship is outstanding, and the windows are of the best quality. I will be buying the remaining 2 windows and a screen door as well.. a job well done! Thanks!***FOLLOWUP***I have since had Cam come back and add a screen door and replace one of the two remaining windows that I did not do the first time... and the final window is on order. I could not have asked for a better group of guys to replace my windows and doors.. treated my family and wife with respect and did excellent work. Highly recommended.

Edit: Still waiting to a return call from this company, called again today Jan 29, 2019 for at least the 10th time in last 2 months alone. NOT a happy customer! It's been 14 months now since my first call.Have been waiting almost 10 months since I first contacted (November 2017) DW about a broken seal and have still not received even one call back from Cam. I have been in contact with Dave, Cam's brother who works for the company and he has been trying to help but his attempts have proven to be fruitless. Sad when it's my front bow window that has a smokey film to look through. Customer service is nonexistent.

Waited 8 weeks for my windows and front door. Door never showed. told me it would be 6 more weeks and that it was backed into with a forklift. I cancelled the door as we are leaving for 6 months. They never finished the window job and now are not returning calls. Buyer beware.

we had all new windows put in ,work done to perfection ! wouldn't deal with anyone else ,quotes we're reasonable, had a malfunction with sliding door under warranty the owner himself came repaired it the same day I took 5 minutes a simple adjustment needed , contacted him as far as some of theses reviews not in business anymore " are the competition posting false info

Just had 8 windows installed by Durham Windows and Doors. We've had all of our windows replaced over a 5 year period all provided and installed by DW&D. Excellent customer service and everyone very courteous. Excellent workmanship and fast delivery. No hesitation in recommending this company. Wouldn't deal with anyone else.

Polite, friendly, professional. They use award winning window factory. Most importantly, they give you an honest quote. It's not like some people who just give you a high price and then offering a discount or waiting for you to bargain. I had some quotes from others so I realize this little trick of other dealers. Anyway, highly recommended!
