Meadow Valley Garden & Gift Centre

I went to Meadow Valley Garden Centre for a yard of Mushroom Manure. I called before I went to ask for the price. I was told that it would be $50.00. When I arrived one week later I was told that the price was $60.00. When I complained I was then told that if I didn’t like $60.00 how about $65.00. I should have walked away but because I had driven so far for the manure and I only had a truck for the day I reluctantly bought the yard of manure. When I unloaded the manure at my garden site I discovered that 20 to 30 percent of the manure was clay and stones. I suspect that it is not even mushroom manure. I definitely would not ever buy anything from this place again. They are in the middle of nowhere and the place was empty. It took 10 minutes to find someone to serve us. If you want to buy good manure I recommend Villacci. Their manure is $30.00 per yard and better quality.

We had a very positive experience at this place. It is clean, well organized, and had a good half-price sale. Anita was super helpful and patient with us, which was very much appreciated. And yes, there is a lovely kitten there that makes the place even nicer and more peaceful. We are looking forward to be back.

CONSUMER BE AWARE!There is no any warranty on any plants at this garden center.We bought four trees for $970 dollars with no discount, three trees died. When discussing the problem with to owner of the garden center we were told that he cannot do anything for us. It was neither pleasant, informative, nor constructive talk. We've been loyal customers of the center for few years.The owner didn't show any appreciation of our business, or any effort to resolve the issue.

Hired my teenage daughter as a cashier and to do some light work (sweeping floors, watering plants). She was excited to work there because her studies involve plants and zoology. On her first day there, she was made to lift 50 lb plants off a truck without safety shoes or back support belt. When she was asked to lift more heavy items, she reminded the owner that she had informed her when hired that she had been to physiotherapy for her knees and couldn’t risk injuring them again. The owner responded, “Well, this IS a garden centre!” My daughter was sent home and told to rest; they would call her when they needed her. When she didn’t hear from them, she contacted them and was told that two former employees had come back to work for them and that they wouldn’t be needing her anymore. Turns out other people working there are also not given due credit for what they do. Nice way to treat your employees Meadow Valley!

HORRIBLE customer service. I ordered 2 yards of 3/4 crushed and 4 yards of gravel.The 3/4 crushed I supposedly received was 95% dirt.. very few ACTUAL 3/4 stone. I called to have it refunded and I’m currently waiting for a response.. seems like they won’t be helping so I am stuck with this dirt on the road. Will post an update if any. For now, I’d steer away from this place.

Amazing center, got all my annuals and perennials from here. The quality of the plants also seem very high, and staff are friendly.

It might be because the interest in gardening is coming to an end or the place is going out of business. Fortunately I was able to see the manure before I bought it. It was full of clay and river stones. It didn’t even look like mushroom manure. They wanted $60.00 per yard for pickup. I left and bought my manure at Earthco in Etobicoke . They sell screened mushroom manure for $35.00 per yard.

Super rude!! Bought $800 worth of plants in late sept, cashier told that if they don't make it thru the winter they will replace them. A $200 hibiscus tree didn't make it. When I called the owner told me me we don't have that kind of policy... I don't if care of you bought 100 plants and hung up!!!"

This is my and many of my neighbour's go-to place for triple mix and grass seeds. A cubic yard of triple mix is just $40ish and is enough to cover the front and back lawns of two houses. My grass is nice and deep green aafter treatment. Nothing but great results.

I went here with my mom and bought 2 healthy and beautiful hanging baskets. They had the most beautiful bougainvillea pots I’ve seen this year. Everything looked healthy and well taken care of. The prices are comparable to other greenhouses. I went back the next day for another flowering bush. Very happy I discovered this place.
