Gorgeous hike (although short) to this amazing bridge! If you haven't done this hike, you should.

Visited this trail for the first time and highly recommend it. It is not a difficult trail especially for those who enjoy trying the different east coast trails. The trail is well marked and maintained and will bring you through the old lamanche village where you'll see foundations of the old abandoned houses and buildings. Very interesting if you are a history fan or just someone looking to see some fantastic scenery of the ocean. Our destination was Dr's Cove (the suspension bridge is on the trail to Dr's Cove) and it is a great one. There are 2 ways to get to it - starting 1km after the entrance to lamanche park or in Bauline East. We had done the latter last year and it is also highly recommended, although you will not get to see the lamanche village or suspension bridge starting there (unless you continue on to see it, making your hike longer). We saw many humpback whales last year that were very close to the shore so do a little research on when is a good time to visit if that's what you are looking for. Bring a nice lunch on a warm day (always very windy and cold at Dr's Cove so going when it's hot out is a great idea) and sit on the rocks and enjoy the scenery.

LaManche's famous bridge is a part of East Coast Trail. The trail is beautiful and well maintained. It has a beautiful waterfall next to the bridge. The sound of waves and waterfall has its own therapy for a break from a regular life. From parking, its around 1.5km walk to the bridge.

This is the Coastal Trail east starting from La Marche. It’s a nice east to moderate trail to the suspension bridge. It is a very popular trail, so be ready to see lots of people along the trail. Today was a beautiful sunny day. I would suggest that you use walking sticks on your hike. It’s not a long hike but the ground is uneven.

We hiked down from the north end in June 2019. Trail had very good level fitting until close to the bridge where you need to pay attention to where to step for a bit as it runs along the edge with rocks and roots. Decent little bits of stairs to get to the bridge, a couple of them are starting to rot so again we watched where we stepped. Saw a seal swimming below the bridge. Checked out some of the remains of the town. Wish we had more time to spend here and explore further. Would be great to bring a picnic lunch.

This beautiful 1.4km (2.8 round trip) trail is fantastic. You can continue on for another hundred kilometers but for those day hikers bring your lunch and eat at the old ruins. (leave no trace).

This bridge is really cool and not really like anything else I've seen around St. John's. Really nice views from the bridge too!

LaManche Suspension Bridge
Nice option of long or short hike. The short one is not too difficult and with photo stops and adventuring off trail it took us about an hour in total.
