So I got hired on with this company as a mobile tech with the idea that they had lots of work and no chances of lay-off. 2.5 months in they layed me off. The companies mobile management team don’t have any ideas how to run a mobile crew. They illegally put a guy with a class 5 license to operate a hydrovac truck. If a safety incident happens inside a car your pretty much dead as they have no proper erp procedures. No way to get you out of the railcar quickly. They don’t even fill out log books for the 550s or hydrovac truck. They also don’t even know how to fill out a log book. Training is a joke. They put anybody behind the wheel of a truck.

⭐️Benefits are above average.⭐️Steady work, overtime is paid after 40 not 44 and offered often and very flexible.⭐️Great group of coworkers to work with (all departments).⭐️Oil n gas ups and downs don’t matter here.⭐️Two morning shifts to work and the option to work an evening shift as well.⭐️Christmas parties are still called Christmas parties.⭐️Monthly safety meetings and an active safety program.⭐️Tools and PPE 100% supplied.❌Wages are well below railcar repair industry average.❌Wages are below fabrication/welding industry average.❌Very high turnover of new hires and experienced workers.❌Benefits are good but have been trimmed down recently.❌The work itself (relative to the pay) can be very dangerous and physically demanding.❌Working in near proximity to many different chemicals and commodities.❌No standardized remuneration scale. No defined way to move up to the shop cap of $35/hour.❌Communal tool cribs mean damaged or missing tools.❌Monthly safety meetings have occasional motivational speeches.❌Apprenticeships are not encouraged or required to work here so that brings down safety and quality.❌Majority of welding will be “in position” lots of overhead welds.8 ⭐️‘s to 11❌‘s = 42% I’d like to do a 3 ⭐️ rating but I just can’t compromise the math here. 2 ⭐️‘s it is but I’m sure we can improve that in time.

I very safe and people as individuals oriented place. Top notch work and a great overall atmosphere
