Chorus Studio
Truly cannot find enough words to convey how much love I have for Chorus Studio, including the incomparable team of BRILLIANT teachers, and all the other Chorus Studio members who have become amazing friends along the way. I've been singing with the choirs at Chorus Studio for the last two years, and can definitively say you will not find a more decidedly welcoming and inclusive environment. If you're looking for something to fill your cup, this is it!Choir Director and co-founder Rebecca Lam is as smart and knowledgeable as she is funny and real and compassionate and kind. If you are nervous about joining a choir or doing lessons or a singing workshop, don't be. The entire team, including other co-founder Rachel Wong, fosters such a supportive space to grow and explore, and not only forgives mistakes and blunders but ENCOURAGES them. This was evident from day one, and has continued to be one of my favourite things about the Chorus Studio team.Highly recommend joining Singer's Circle, taking private lessons, or signing up for a choir - I'm partial to B-Roll! Such a fun activity to do once or twice a week, and as a bonus, you will get to be part of an amazing community of like-minded people, who also just happen to really enjoy singing.

Chorus Studio
I wholeheartedly recommend The Chorus Studio to anyone interested in having fun singing modern-style music (such as pop, R&B, and gospel) in a choir, and/or improving one’s singing skills through lessons and group performances.I’ve been a member of several choirs (such as YVR Pop Choir and B-Roll) in this studio over a period of about 4 years. I’d had previous choir experience, and, aside from great organization, the Chorus Studio choirs are by far the most fun among those that I’ve participated in. The community is very supportive and inclusive. Although many participants are fairly skilled (an audition is required to join, and the performances, some of which are available on YouTube, are high-quality), one of the main goals is to have a good time and connect with each other, lifting everyone’s spirits. The choirs are very animal-friendly (many people bring small dogs and cats to rehearsals :), and the live performances raise money for local animal rescue charities. Also, I have taken a number of vocal lessons with Rebecca and other team members, and these, as well as participating in the Singer’s Circle workshops in which singers perform solo in front of each other and get feedback from the teachers, have been very helpful in my musical development.

Joining the Chorus Studio has been one of the highlights of living in Canada for me. I moved here not knowing anyone and somehow through joining choir I've made a bunch of amazing friends and have had a ton of opportunites to sing and perform around the city! The YVR Pop Choir meets weekly and it's such a fun and welcoming group. The set list changes each term and the variety of songs means there's always something you can work to improve on vocally, which is something I love! The team running the studio are super friendly as well as being extremly supportive in training each section of the choir to sing to their fullest potential. In my short time with the studio I feel like I've learned and grown so much as a singer.Even if you don't want to join one of the choirs there's still opportunites to perform at the open mic's or karaoke nights that the studio run! The Chorus Studio is such a safe, welcoming and encouraging space for any and all singers and peformers, regardless of skill or level. My weekly choir rehearsals, the events run by the studio, and the performances we get to take part in, are all things I look forward to every week!If you're in any way interested in singing, performing, or just being around a lovely group of people, I cannot recommend the Chorus Studio enough!

Since I joined Chorus Studio's Pacific Soul Choir at the end of August last year, my life has changed for the better. Not only have I been surrounded by so much love and support which has helped me move past many personal barriers, I am now a part of a wonderful community that I consider family. The group of like-minded, genuine and kind-hearted people I have in my life now because of Chorus Studio makes my heart so full. All the staff at Chorus Studio are super talented, professional and the best at what they do. I have worked with Richard, Rachel and Rebecca who are all amazing directors who provide a safe and supportive space for you to get out of your comfort zone and go after your musical passions with an energetic and fun atmosphere. It's what I look forward to every week! I'm so grateful to be a part of this wonderful community and I look forward to growing with them as I continue my musical journey :)

I joined one of Chorus Studio's choirs, B-Roll, in early 2019 and it has quite simply changed my life. Rebecca and the Chorus Studio staff have created not only a welcoming environment for singers of all levels, but have fostered a diverse community of people driven by a passion for music and singing. For someone who has always loved singing but has never performed in front of a lot of people, Chorus Studio has provided me with a platform to do exactly that, without it ever feeling scary or intimidating. On a technical note, my musicality has drastically improved in so many ways since joining the choir: my ability to memorize and learn songs, listen to and participate in creating harmonies, my voice and ability to hold a mic (something that I never thought you had to learn or would be hard to do in front of an audience), to name a few.Whether you are a new or well-seasoned singer (prior to joining, I was somewhere in between), I would without a doubt recommend anyone with a love for music and the itch to perform to consider joining Chorus Studio. Trust me, you will never look back!

I started learning the guitar about a year ago, and halfway in set a goal to be more confident singing as well. I feel very lucky to have found Chorus Studio, where I've been having private lessons with Jared Suitor, who teaches both guitar and singing, over the last 6-months.Although I love music, I am very shy about singing and it has been something I've never been comfortable doing in front of anyone. Jared is very approachable and fun in his style and I've felt very relaxed and comfortable in getting out of my comfort zone in my lessons with him. I have also found that he's able to explain concepts in a way that works for my learning style, and noticed him figuring out what would work with me in our first lessons. For those also be interested in guitar, being able to get help mixing the two has been really great. The space is very nice with several private rooms, a kitchen and bathrooms, and a large area that I've seen used for larger choirs. Scheduling is very easy as well with a pretty slick online booking system, availability into the evenings, and where I've had to reschedule, it has been easy.I look forward to going, have fun, and leave each time with good insights on where I'm progressing and where I should focus to improve. Highly recommend.Ken

Chorus Studio
Chorus Studio seems to be, first and foremost, a community. So far, I have gone to some of the workshops/events but not participated in any choirs... but even on the 'outskirts' it's so evident they've created a beautiful, supportive, welcoming, warm, friendly community... with instructors who are down-to-Earth, relatable/empathetic, and super knowledgable. I feel incredibly lucky to have discovered this place, and inspired by the intentional leadership that makes it what it is.

I've been a member of Chorus Studio since they were just one small choir (YVR Pop Choir) in 2017. I felt welcomed into their community almost immediately and have made many dear friends over the last few years. Rebecca and her team just attract good people.Being part of YVR Pop Choir has been an uplifting, life affirming, joyous experience. There is nothing quite like singing with a choir. If you like pop, indie, or R&B music, the Chorus studio choirs have the best vibes.Everyone in the community is so supportive and willing to work together. Rebecca provides creative, energetic, and insightful direction during rehearsal, and practice tracks for each section so even singers with very little musical background can easily learn their parts.I've learned so much about music, rhythm, and my own voice since I joined the choir. A 30-min vocal lesson with any of the instructors at Chorus Studio is a real eye-opener and can give you a lot of insight into your strengths and weaknesses, whether you are preparing for a solo performance or just want to learn more about your instrument. If you want to be in the solo spotlight, Singers Circle is the perfect place to gain confidence performing for an audience. If you have any interest in singing with a choir or taking voice, guitar, or piano lessons, I can't recommend Chorus Studio enough. Did I mention proceeds from our concerts benefit local charities? What could be better than supporting a small, BIPOC, female-owned business and giving back to the larger community?

I associate music with love because my parents introduced me to some of the finest artists when I was little. I went from occasionally singing in church to taking guitar lessons, but had never incorporated vocal technique into my practice. Until 2021. When the world seemed to be falling apart due to the pandemic, blatant racism and exposed inequities, I realized I needed more joy and JOYned Chorus Studio. It was a life-changing decision — and that’s not an overstatement.I've rehearsed with my choir, attended open mics and karaoke nights, participated in the Singers Circle and a recital, performed in theatres and parks, and have been taking voice lessons regularly. Why such an investment? Because these activities have improved my mental health and, ultimately, they’re FUN!In addition to vocal and performance techniques, I’ve been learning to trust myself as a singer. My teachers’ endless support — not only through technical knowledge, but also active listening and encouraging conversations — gave me the confidence to do my first ever solo acoustic performance at a concert. Looking back on my first choir rehearsal — when I was eager to sing solo but tense to even raise my hand — I see progress and, in the process, I’ve been positively impacted by their dedication, passion and enthusiasm. My learning also comes from my fellow singers. Attending a variety of events brought me closer to incredible people who have cheered me on, inspired me with their talent, and offered advice, feedback, and hugs. If you're looking for a non-judgement environment where you can sing and be your most authentic and vulnerable self, stop searching. You'll find it here!

As a member of their Pacific Soul choir for almost a year now I can say this place is one of the most special gems in the city. I've been a part of other choirs in the past but Chorus Studio manages to perfectly blend fun, social atmosphere with singing an amazing répertoire and learning more about singing and performing along the way.The choir directors are all knowledgeable, fun, and supportive leaders and the groups are all wonderful people who I love spending time with every week.If you're looking to build community in Vancouver, I can't recommend coming to Chorus Studio with more enthusiasm.Special shout out also to Rachel who is an amazingly talented, patient and supportive piano teacher!
