I was looking for a pch for my Mom, I watched the video for Oakview Place and it looked like a beautiful place. I went and had a wonderful tour, it was beautiful. The staff were very friendly. Then I went to the second floor where the rooms were, and it frightened me, the walls were dark blue and green on brick walls, nothing like the beautiful bright happy first floor. I was told they had a color expert come in and said these were calming colors. I felt like I was visiting a prison. Each floor should be the same, happy and bright. Why don't they show that part on the video?I suggested they paint bright colors to make the patients feel happy.I would never put my Mom in there. I want my Mom's last years to be in a happy place, not feel like she is living in a dungeon.

My dad has been at Oakview for a few months and has told me numerous times that he’s the happiest he’s been in years! The staff is incredibly friendly and supportive and treat him like they would their own family, not just a client. They have activities going on all the time for residents to participate in if they choose. My dad is very happy with the quality of the food and looks forward to having his favourites. After being a primary caregiver for 8 years, it is so wonderful to have found a place I can trust to take good care of my dad so I can go back to being the daughter again. Thank you so much to Cara and all of the staff on the first floor!

The one star is for the great kitchen staff, they take better care of the residents than anyone. After neglecting and insulting my mom repeatedly, she was put on her bed after dressing instead of in her wheelchair. Needless to say she feel off her bed, hit her head/face and passed away. This is what we were told the day she died. Their story quickly changed, they lied and said they put her in her wheelchair and she had a heart attack. The last image I have of my mother her face is purple and black.

This place does nothing but suck your money. The care during the week is ok. ( just barely)but the weekend is nowhere near satisfactory. The rooms look like they haven't been painted since the building was built. Its dirty, they dont dust the residents room.

Staff reported cases of elder abuse to management and Management swept it under the carpet, which resulted in the 2 abusive staff members continuing to work, which meant the residents were continuing to be abused, Thankful that the whistle blower went to the proper authorities themselves… only then was something done. This place should be shut down…. They have caused so much heartache and pain to the victims and their families. Shame on them!

I always had concerns over the issues going on at the facility. Now I see changes are happening to support the residents over here. For the first time in three years, today, a manager came to my Mom’s room and spent some time with us. He explained his ideas and offered us all support as needed. We highly appreciate this effort.

I wanted to share our deepest heartfelt gratitude for the excellent care that my Dad – Ron Lecuyer, received until his passing on April 28. We are so thankful for the nurses, aides and staff who made my Dad as comfortable as possible on his final days. Compassionate, thoughtful and respectful are the words we used for the staff on his floor. We want to thank, in particular, Tatjana Koslenko and Barb Chubka who made us feel like we were part of a bigger family. On behalf of my family I would like to say, “Well done Oakview, we will never forget you!”

Exceptional care and camaradie for our mother during her last 10 years at Oakview, with personable and professional staff - from the nurses to the health aides. During her final few weeks, we were especially appreciative of their compassionate and loving care for our mom and for us, taking care of everyone during this very difficult time. We are so grateful to the staff, especially the third floor team for taking care of our mom - thank you!

I have had the worst customer service call calling Oakview Nursing Home. I encountered a women named Tatiana who I was enquiring on general information. She not only did not listen but construed what I was trying to covey and was not in any way helpful, courteous or polite. Is this the kind of service or even empathy one should receive? She is differently a sad representation of this facility.
