It's very authentic chinese properly bursting with flavour. You can go crazy on their kabob style meat sticks and their veggie dishes are amazing. You can't find a more mainland Chinese experience.

Authentic northern Chinese food just like home cookingAfter reading all the comments I had little expectation coming to this restaurant, but quell surprise!Located in an unassuming corner lot in Sandy Hills, off the busy commercial strip, the interior of the restaurant is actually quite modern and nice. Well lit, offering a mixture of booths and tables. Nice clean bathrooms too. There is also free onsite parking (entrance located on the side street), but didn’t know about that, and there were plenty of on street parking spaces.Food was authentic and phenomenal, reminds me of my grandma’s cooking back home, big portions too. Service was nothing like some reviewers mentioned, granted that the service staff don’t really smile, but they get things done in a timely fashion. You can also get the drinks from the fridges on the side by yourself, just leave the bottles on the table and they’ll count them at the end. This is apparently a good dining spot for the students around, you can be assured that food tastes good and price is reasonable.Highly recommend, it exceeded my expectations.

Food is okay, but really nothing special. Menu is confusing and is obviously only catering to those who know what everything is. Not cheap, but not expensive. Everything we ordered tasted pretty much the same. Not in a hurry to go back.

We ordered a bunch of things to try. The deep fried pork with sweet and sour sauce (F02), the coating is a bit thick and the sauce is on the sour side. However it is better than other Chinese restaurants who offer the same dish. But not as good as the Harmony restaurant(unfortunately it’s closed). The eggplant with garlic sauce (F29)has big piece of green pepper in there, which is odd for this dish. I would rate it below average, it’s not up to the fish fragrance dish flavor standard. The kungpao chicken(F20) is very disappointing, not the right kungpao flavor if that is something you are looking for in this dish. The fried lamb(F19) with cumin sauce has very little lamb in there, the flavor is good, but the lamb was mostly fatty. The bbq whole squid was tasty, not too hard and chewy, spice seasoning was right. The Sichuanese style beef brisket noodle (N01 )was a surprise. The beef was tender, the soup was ok. It tastes like the packaged beef noodle I had when I was a kid in China. If you want to have something nostalgic, it’s a good choice. In general, it’s better than some other Chinese restaurants in town, but wouldn’t fly if it’s in China. Would try more bbq stuff next time.

A good place if you know what to order. You know it is a authentic place when most patrons come here for a taste of home.We ordered several charcoal skewers and various dishes with rice. The skewers are almost as good as the ones I had in China with the distinct cumin and chilli flavour. The sauerkraut soup with meat is one of the better ones in the city. Nice tangy taste but not heavy on the salt. For the more adventurous, try the Pork Feet and Spicy Sauce. Goes very well with rice and be sure to chew on some of the raw onions for a completely change in flavour. Note that you do have to pay for each bowl of rice.

I had an average experience at the Dainty Kitchen. I ordered the pork wontons which were decent but nothing special. A little on the pricey side. The restaurant had no music and lacked ambience and also ventilation. A strong smell of fryer grease permeated the entire restaurant including the seating area.

Ordered the Stir Fried Beef. It was rated mild, reflected on the menu by one chilli symbol. I have never until now attempted to return a takeout order. My wife almost choked on a couple of the chilli peppers. When I returned I was told that it is a northern Chinese communist dish. Perhaps they should have price it accordingly. I was not offered any exchanges or a refund. Returned home and had to pick out the crunchy peppers and try to repair the greasy oily beef in a new dish. One of the worse! Very disappointed indeed!

This place serves an amazing noodle soup. It is N05 on the menu called chongqing noodles. Highly recommend this item and I will be returning often
