They just called me to ask questions about health and wellness. I asked the caller how the results will be used, and who will be using them. I am an academic & this is standard info that all participants should know, and is part of research ethics. The caller said something about aggregating the answers. I asked again, how will the answers be used, and who will use the results? A private company? The government? The caller repeated the answer they provided before. I said if they can’t answer, I won’t do the survey. Caller said “I just did. Have a good day.”This was unprofessional.

Phone surveys. The business name didn't show up on my call display but she did say the company name and the name of the study, and I able to find Prairie Research on Google Maps. It was about opinions on police services, crime and public safety concerns in Winnipeg. The interviewer sounded young and I had to give her some constructive criticism on how not to giggle while conducting a study on a serious and sensitive topic. Questions were typical of a municipal public opinion poll.
