I sold my house in Calgary and chose Olson law group as my lawyer. I live in BC and I had a fairly quick possession date (28 days). I spoke with the lady at the front who was very nice. I called multiply times trying to get answers and updates with no real luck, I just kept getting the same answer “we will let you know if you need to do anything”. Fast forward to 3 days before the new owner possession, I get a call saying I have to come in to sign documents (yet I stated to them I was living out of town and was unaware docusign wasn’t an option to sign over title). So I had 4 days to try to find an appointment with a notary (not easy how the Vancouver market is right now) get the documents signed and sent back to Alberta within 48 hours so we had time to make sure everything was good to go. Long story short I ended up paying $820 dollars for a round trip flight from Vancouver to Calgary (last minute) because we couldn’t guarantee the documents wouldn’t get back in time for closing (so instead of the $1250 for lawyer fees, it technically cost me close to $2100) They did nothing to compensate me, let me reiterate I told them I lived in BC, called multiply times to see what I needed to do without answer, and had to book a last minute flight to guarantee closing would go through. I would look elsewhere for a real estate lawyer, especially if you’re an out of town seller. Beware and do your research
