Driving my father-in-law home from up north, we stopped in Barrie for a quick dinner with an hour and a half left in the drive as it was after 6 pm.Montana's is usually very consistent and reliable., so we thought we would take our first restaurant experience in two years at Montana's on Bayview Drive, off Maple View.About 6:12 we were told the wait would be an out 20-25 minutes to be seated. And about 6:35 we were on the patio and a short time after giving our drink orders, which came right away. That was the last we saw if the staff for another 20 minutes.Time ticked by, and after An hour after being seated went by with no one returning to ask if we needed anything, etc, I was ready to leave, announcing ten more minutes and we will leave and find an alternative along the remainder of the trip. The person clearing the table adjacent to us probably overheard me, as she went inside a moment later before returning to finish clearing the table.Our meals arrived only a minute under the wire. I was just reaching for my sunglasses and wallet and starting to explain it was time to go. 7:44 pmAfter bringing out the dinners, I was asked if we needed anything else, so I asked for the cheque right away so we would not be left waiting again.I realise the restaurant service industry has struggled for the last two years and there is a staff shortage, but keeping people waiting for that long without even an acknowledgement or forwarding of the wait time for kitchen service is not a way to encourage returning customers.There are lots of independent restaurants out there that suffered far worse. Guess where I will take my business in the future.

The meal was great! I had the fish and my husband had ribs and finished my fish. The portion sizes were large. Excellent food.Our server, Bridget, was very attentive. She offered lots of suggestions that we tried (ex. Lemonade drink, bbq sauce for ribs) .Overall an excellent dining experience.

Our server Natalie was excellent! She checked in on us often, was personable and friendly. Our food was cooked perfectly and delicious! Three of us ordered steak and one a salad w chicken. Prices were reasonable. Would def return to Barrie South location. Thank you for the awesome service!

Good place to eat for a quick bite! $12.99 lunch special including half a sandwich, small bowl of soup and a side salad. Good sized portion and made fast. Beer cost almost as much as lunch!

I had an awesome dinner experience last night with Julie as my server. Everything came out quick, drinks, apps and dinner served to perfection. Definitely will be back as Julie made us feel so welcome and her abilities were outstanding! Hope we get her again next time! Fabulous

Went out for lunch with my daughter on Victoria Day and was so pleased with all aspects. Friendly greeting from start to finish. Amanda took care of us and such intuitive, honest and friendly service. We sat in a lovely booth table in the bar and she was always moving, cleaning and checking stock. We encountered 4 different staff members during an hour and a half and I have to say that all were so lovely. Well done to this location. Will definitely go back for the service.

I had a great experience at this Montanas. My partner and I ate here recently and were amazed at the quality of food and excellent service. The ribs were fabulous. Our server Julie made the experience because she remained helpful and professional on such a busy night. Highly recommend for good food and great staff!

Good family outing spot. The service was a bit slow because there were only 2 staff so I don't feel like taking away too many points. There's a big free parking in the front. The food was really good! The brisquet burger and the fries are yummy.

This is the best restaurant in Barrie. The taste, staff and atmosphere were all perfect. The 10oz sirloin steak was grilled to medium rare and good value for money, and the brisket burger was the best burger at Barrie. Erin was a very humorous and nice guy.
