I recently had a full kitchen renovation completed. After agreeing with VGC to go ahead with my project (with Schwan) just before the Covid lockdown in the spring, I was unsure about what would happen. However, once VGC were able to get their operations running again we were able to proceed safely. My experience was very good. I worked with Zaineb on the project, who helped me with my design selections and also managed the project overall once underway. This was my first large reno project and I was quite concerned about it, which is why I wanted a company who had a full range of services. It went very well. Zaineb kept on top of the schedule and the contractors and informed me when issues came up that required my attention. The contractors were reliable, efficient and did a good job.I was especially concerned about the project given the Covid measures we have in place but despite this everything was done according to plan. I had some minor gripes with a couple of the change orders and little things towards the end of the project, like decorative finishes, but these were addressed before completion.Zaineb was a great help, available to respond when needed and keeping me informed.Overall I'm very happy with my experience and would recommend them. I would be happy to use them again for my next project.

The bathroom is pretty and everything works. It took over six months. It came in 20% over budget. I'm sure there's an explanation. There were days I didn't know if anyone was coming. There were days workers arrived at 5pm.There were days workers arrived at 11am.It could be any time. There were days and weeks of nothing. The tub, sinks etc were delivered into my apartment 4 months before they were installed. Seriously, I thought when the tub arrived, there would be work speed up.Often there was one lone craftsman working many hours after my condo regulations for contractors of 8am to 5pm.It's really not acceptable for the worker, either.I often got calls that someone was coming or was at my door, same day. Often I could accommodate. I never got a construction schedule. The only timing schedule was up to start. Of course I imagined there would be some sort of time frame after demolition. There was so long a gap between design and implementation, there should be a review or confirmation. The design was in October 2022. The finishing is June 2023.My fault, I admit I accepted some design bits that I didn't want. The black tile in the shower insert. The textured tiles on the shower wall. These were the designers choices. Also the items I'm least pleased with. Everyone says they are lovely. Not my point. Lots of things are lovely. It's not my taste or preference. I feel talked into it. It's just some tiles. It won't ruin my bathroom experience but stick to your preferences. Don't get talked into something you're not desiring.Tub position was an issue that cost me money. There was an attempt to move the drain without consulting architectural drawings and it wasn't possible so everything had to be repaired after two days of drilling. On the plus. I have a wonderful, doorless shower that will allow wheelchair access. There is a shower bench--perfect. The floor tiles are gorgeous.Sinks, counters, slipper tub, these are as I hoped. They saved the wall mirrors , as I asked. The gentlemen who actually worked in my suite were lovely. My issues are timing , notice of when and who is coming, time to completion and cost. Piles of stuff in my suite for months. My foyer and bedroom were plumbing and tiling storage. We had to navigate around the tub box every time we entered or went out. My husband is mobility impaired and I am also a senior. It's been incredibly stressful and drawn out.The contract says there will be a time line. Not true. This was my first time using a contractor so I didn't know what to insist on having in the terms. However, this is not the first contract written by VGC so, they can do better. There was no time line.My opinion, if you can, work with a designer then source materials and hire your own crafts people .If you choose to go with Vancouver General Contractors,1. Insist on a time line with consequences2. Insist on transparency re where budget may change.3. Stick to your own design taste and preferences. You're the one using it.If I were doing it again, I would use the designer and look for alternatives to using a contractor. At least i would know the schedule.Glenda Affleck

We chose VCG to renovate two bathrooms in our downtown condo because they offered both design and construction services with a well-defined process. We encountered some confusion about the costs during the initial quotation and statement of work phase of the project, but these were resolved and once the actual work was able to proceed after a long Covid delay, we were very pleased with how smoothly the renovation proceeded. Our designer, Hoda, was very helpful in guiding us through material selection and suggesting options that matched our preferences. She was also very diligent at finding suitable alternatives when our selections became unavailable from the suppliers. Our project manager, Ravi, was very responsive to our requests and despite some unforeseen issues, the project was completed ahead of schedule. The primary sub-contractor that VCG selected was also very knowledgeable and accommodating. Overall, we are pleased with the outcome and would recommend VCG to others looking for a company to do both the design and construction aspects of a renovation project.

We chose VGC to remodel two full bathrooms and powder room. As we were going to continue living in the house throughout the renovations, we requested the job be done in two stages. Our project manager, Zaineb helped us with the design, choosing materials, etc. She had listened to our needs and as our renovations is coming to an end, we have to say that we are very please with the results. The project had gone smoothly from beginning to end. Zaineb had chosen skilled sub trades and had done an excellent job coordinating their jobs, always keeping in mind COVID protocols. She is always available and had taken care of any of our concerns immediately. Our project was completed ahead of schedule. Definitely, we will have Zaineb and her team for any future renovations.

We hired VGC to do a renovation in our office to create an events space and a new meeting room.Nothing fancy or exiting as the other amazing projects I see reviewed here, but it was really important for us.Everything was done accordingly to the project within the timeframe they stipulated at the beginning. They kept our office clean for the entire time, even with all the demolition involved.Another satisfied customer :).

If you go with VGC, you need to request Moe as the project manager. He goes above and beyond to help his clients out. Anytime you call, he's there and provides the best service. Moe is knowledgeable and has extensive experience and expertise in the field. If I could give Moe 10 stars, I would. However, the company needs to update their design team. They lack communication, experience, skills, and taste. Phase one of our project was so bad that we hired our own designer for phase two. Another example is they ordered tiles for the powderroom after taking measurements. When the tiles ran out because of their miscalculation, they charged us for additonal tiles, but also snuck in close to $1000 management fee, which could of been avoided if the calculations were correct from the beginning. The reason for the 3 stars is the design team.

We contracted Vancouver General Contractors for the renovation of our kitchen. Overall, we are very pleased with the final outcome. Mahsa did a great job incorporating our various ideas into a beautiful kitchen design. Mo, who was our project manager, was very effective in coordinating and communicating with the various subtrades and made himself readily available to deal with any concerns which arose in a professional fashion.

My wife and I worked with Sal, Pardis, and Mo to renovate our 2 bathrooms, and we couldn't be happier with the final product. From start to finish, the VGC team was super helpful, prompt with responding, and professional in handling all of our requests. Highly recommend them to anyone looking to do renovations.

This is my second contract with VGC. The second experience was even better than the first. By the way, maybe some reviewers did have a bad experience but i would be surprise that it was in professionalism or workmanship. My experience with VGC is that they stand behind their work. I understand that people can have problems and glitches in construction - it is normal and expected - but I have seen how VGC stands behind their work and how they solve problems in a professional way. The fixed work is flawless. Renos are not stress less, they incur more money than we think, but one thing is that VCG stands behind their contract and will solve problems in a professional way. Just saying. AND again, my second review is not a fake review. Here it goes:The work is absolutely professional and amazing. The renovations done by VANCOUVER GENERAL CONTRACTORS (VGC) made a dream come true and more. The first floor of our home is an absolute dream, and I am thrilled beyond words with it. Throughout the projects ~ we did add more projects after seeing the result of the kitchen dining room areas (see more below) ~ there was a constant attention to details, of professionalism, and respect. From the very beginning of our project, I felt confident with the teams from VGC. They listened, and understood, and were totally invested in creating the space I was hoping for. The quality is amazing, and I am certain that I will be enjoying my new remodeled space for many years. We were so happy with the results and workmanship that we hired VGC to finish our living room space adding a beautiful heated efficient fireplace; a new modern state of the art bathroom and a huge sophisticated deck.I now have a beautiful live wall created by Aurelien at BYNATURE: PLANT FOR LIVING WALL, is out of this world! Bringing nature as a sculpted breathing element that adds calmness and quietness as well as valuable floor real estate to our tiny place; and finally but not least Ash, Sara and their team at ASHKELON CONSTRUCTION, who are always prompt, treated our home with respect, their work being exceptional and I could not speak highly enough of Ash and his team.Nothing can faze Zaineb and her teams; if a problem occurred, she led her team to solve the problem in a very professional way until it is resolved. Zaineb led them into creating professional and meticulous work in a timely manner. She goes above and beyond to get the required result. I absolutely recommend VGC.
