This place is a wonderful stop in the town of Mahone Bay. The pub is on the second floor of a vintage building and you get a great view of the bay. My husband told me he had the best chili of this life here, and I corrected him by saying it was the best, other than mine of course. Until he took me there. It literally is one of the best chilis I’ve ever had. The staff is great, and the room is a lovely, old salty flavoured pub style. You can always count on a good meal here.

Lovely setting, inside or out. We sat on the patio, under an umbrella so out of the sun. Patio view was lovely. Comfortable chairs. Good service and helpful with patient answers to where's the best ice cream?"questions. The FOOD is wonderful. Pan fried scallops cooked to perfection. Really nice thick

I stumbled upon this restaurant after the one I wanted to visit was closed for the season. I had fish and chips and a mug of tea. Overall, I was so impressed with the fish and chips!! The batter was crispy and the fish flaked perfectly. The fries were crispy and delicious. The coleslaw, wish I had a bucket. Staff are friendly and so efficient.

Stopped in and shared some potato skins, which were excellent, along with a Ceasar salad, which was mediocre. Love the vibe here, love the views too. Staff were honest about wait times for food, as they were short handed the day we went. They were all working very hard to take care of the patrons.

This is a terrific quaint Irish Pub. Staff are super friendly and food is the best. I really love the old-school vibe to the restaurant and it’s great they kept what appears to be original decor and layout.

Very picturesque, cosy. Plentiful food at reasonable prices, just not my type of food normally.

I recently visited the Mug & Anchor Pub and wanted to share my experience. While there were some positive aspects, there were a few areas that left me wanting more.Let's start with the food. The mussels dish was a bit disappointing. Instead of being served in a flavorful broth, they came with a shot-sized amount of oily butter. This didn't allow the mussels to truly shine. The accompanying bread slices were very thin and small, which didn't provide enough substance to balance out the dish.On the other hand, the scallops and chips were decent. The scallops themselves were good, but the portion size was far from plentiful. Chips (fries) were crispy, providing a pleasant texture to accompany the scallops. One positive note was the house beer made by Propeller Brewery. It was enjoyable and added a nice touch to the dining experience. It's always a treat to try a local brew, and this one did not disappoint.Moving on to the pub's aesthetics, I must say they were great. The overall atmosphere and design of the place were appealing. However, I had hoped to enjoy the back patio overlooking Mahone Bay, but unfortunately, the weather was a bit too chilly during my visit. It's worth mentioning, though, that the patio seemed inviting and would likely be a wonderful spot to relax and take in the view on a warmer day.In summary, the Mug & Anchor Pub had its ups and downs. While the food execution fell short in some aspects, the server was fantastic and the pub's aesthetics were pleasing, the server was great, and the back patio overlooking Mahone Bay seemed like a lovely spot. With some improvements to the food offerings, the Mug & Anchor Pub could become an even more appealing destination but don’t rule them out.

As Oak Island fans this pub visit was a consolation prize as the visitor's center for Oak Island was closed. Pub decor was as we've seen on T.V. and the service staff were very nice. But lunch was a big disappointment for my family. Fortunately for me I'm on weight watchers and so didn't blow my diet. But for the rest in my family...it was an appetizer. Taste was ok not fabulous, portion size small and inconsistent. Fries were meh. Lovely ice cream shop next door.
