REVIEW AS A BUYER:I participated in two of Switzer's April 2021 auctions and was most impressed with the efficiency and speed with which they called their mammoth sales. I purchased three lots (medals) and was most pleased with my purchases. The auction descriptions were accurate and informative.The buyer's commission fee of 15% is very reasonable these days. All commission fees and sales taxes were clearly stated in writing at the beginning of the online catalogues. Needless to say, I am looking forward to their future auctions. (Graham H.Neale, Ottawa)REVIEW AS A SELLER:When I drove to Bancroft to collect my April purchases (see above review) I took the opportunity to consign 26 lots of medals and militaria to Switzer's June 17 (Militaria) auction. This also was a highly satisfactory experience. Every lot found a buyer, with an average hammer price of $87.00 per lot. I received full payment from Switzer's today (July 8) -- a very fast turnaround indeed! The accompanying paperwork was meticulously prepared and 100% accurate. I rarely leave a perfect grade in an online review as it leaves no incentive to improve, but in this case I can find no flaw or reason to complain about the service I received from Switzer's Auction. Recently I consigned my gun collection, which included a prohibited weapon, to be sold at auction with Switzer's. From start to finish, Paul Switzer and his team made the process clear and stress free for me. They were highly professional and knowledgeable and informative to me. The fact that they provide reasonable assessment of the condition of firearms, do a professional job of taking pictures and presenting the items, handle all of the paperwork with the RCMP, make sure buyers have proper licensing, collect the funds and look after getting the items to buyers is invaluable. The proceeds I received were more than fair and were paid promptly. The buyers also seemed to be getting fair deals on their purchases. The auction itself was quite interesting and entertaining to watch. I was surprised to see bids coming in from almost every Canadian province, and several Countries around the world. They obviously have a huge following and do a great job of matching sale items with the right buyers. My experience with the Switzer Team was clearly successful and I will have no hesitation to recommend their services to anyone looking to sell or buy firearms or related items.

If you want friendly, professional, efficient service in selling your merchandise, Switzers Auction centre is the company for you. Paul Switzer came a considerable distance to pick up the guns soon after we contacted him. He handled all the necessary paperwork with the RCMP, etc. to clear the guns for sale at their April/21 auction. We were very, very pleased with the results and received our cheque along with an itemized list showing the sale value along with the final cheque amount.We would highly recommend Paul and his company to anyone who is interested in selling their guns, etc. for top dollar. The administrator should be replaced immediately and you shouldn't trust your sale or pick up until that happens. I have had better luck with a gun shop and better prices too. Save your money and time until they can improve the service.

Pony Soldier has a point about shipping charges appearing to be higher than normal recently. Still an excellent auction able to bring in an amazing variety of items and is efficient and effective at listing them and the descriptions provided and a pleasant place to be and deal with. Involved with charity work and has an honest attitude.

I used them last year to auction my collection. Alexandra came with her husband and they did a great job verifying everything against my list. They were done in a day. It was so easy. The auction itself overall brought in more than I expected.So this year doing the same with my Dad's collection. Will update when my Dad's stuff gets done.I found it the best way to sell a collection of firearms at once. It so hard to sell them one at a time as takes forever and a hassle.

If there were 96,304 stars, I would have given that many. Total professionals and I personally had an excellent experience. Excellent communication, extremely fair buyer's fee, and the online auction format was really, really well done. Unfortunately, I was outbid by the floor for the item I really wanted, but that's why it's called an auction" and not "Amazon". The pictures

I have been dealing with Paul Switzer firearms auctions ever since they first started to use an online bidding facility. My experiences have been nothing but positive. The owner and all the staff are friendly and helpful.The reviews which angrily state they overpaid for items make me chuckle. Before placing a bid at any auction you must understand the terms of the auction and that you are making a binding contract when you place a bid. Therefore it is paramount that you ask questions and understand all fees and taxes to be charged. I do this up front when I attend gun auctions in person as well. Then you need to set a maximum bid in your mind taking all the extra fees/taxes into account. Be prepared before you just start bidding like crazy!Personally I like gun auctions for finding the rare items that never appear for sale anywhere else.

I wish I could put 2.5 star, right in the middle. I did not have the greatest experience with this auction. I'll start with the good:-Good customer service-Fast shipping-Easy bidding-Phone app saved my biding when their website went downBAD:- Like all auction, they charge the seller(25%), what I did not know is the 15% they take on the buyer as well. Yes it is written somewhere in a table, but I did not find it clear. Therefore did not understand it. And yes I read all the mandatory readings.- They charge FULL tax on items, they offer a service and taxes was paid on those items before so taxes should be no more than service tax not the full close to 15% we have in Ontario.I will NOT recommend this auction unless looking for something rare. I will NOT use this auction again because: Overall you pay an extra near 30% on top of the deal" you made. Might as well buy new items at your local store and provide them with good business
