Cal's Plumbing & Heating

We contacted Cal to provide us a quote to hook up the gas and plumbing to our new modular home. On the phone he quoted me $650.00 and then a day or two later he came out to discuss the job with my husband and again gave us a verbal quote of $650.00. When the invoice arrived is was in the amount of $1525.00 of which $1105.00 was labour alone. When I questioned the bill I learned that there had been some additional work and problems that arose that could not have been foreseen and I was ok with paying a bit extra for this. Cal also mentioned that he had not advised his employee that this was a quoted job and it would lead me to believe that when the work was being done it could have been done quicker and more efficiently had there been a set labour cost stated up front. There were unnecessary holes drilled into our floors that we had to subsequently fill to prevent cold air and or mice getting through and the explanation we were provided for this was that the plumber was just doing the job the way he thought it would have to be done due to past experience. The hook ups were completed and passed inspection however I would caution anyone dealing with this company to get your quote in writing before moving forward with any work.

Cal did some great work inside our house to two bathrooms and shower etc. Called him back sometime later for septic issue and was not impressed. Overcharged for pump replacement, then after two call backs I had to pull pump myself to remove a stone from the line. Lot of money wasted.

Booked and no show. Called and said the appointment was not put in the books". Dissapointing service if you can even call it that considering they never showed up."

Received excellent service today from Cal. We had a water leak in our basement and could not of got better service!! Would highly recommend them!

With all the challenges in the economy and to save funds for our people we purchased a used furnace that we were assured worked properly. Upon intallation the circuit board was found faulty. Asked if there is something he could do to assist us and the response was BUYER BEWARE Did not realize people like this still operate in this manner...really????? People with years of experience operate frauduenlty. Bleak Steer Clear of this one. That is cost us over $300 for a circuit board

Cal was on time to fix my in-floor heat water heater. Cal was also able to get the fireplace working after another contractor stated we would have to order a new fireplace. I am so thankful that I was referred to him by an unrelated business. I discovered Cal to be easy to deal with and extremely thankful he troubleshooted before simply suggesting to replace our hot water heater and fireplace. Thank you Cal for your honest work. I was impressed and would recommend you in a heartbeat.

Called Cal's Plumbing and got a response within 20 minutes - took an hour to fix the problem, and the billing was reasonable. Made a promise, delivered, and ensured I was satisfied. Really great expereince.

Cal fixed a problem I had in March. He was very ramy and unprofessional. He soldered joints over a linoleum floor and left burn marks in the Lino. It’s only a laundry room but still noticeable. He did come when I called. He repaired a 3/4 in copper line from my hot water tank to my underfloor heat. He only had a small piece of the pipe he needed so he did make the repair. How many plumbers don’t carry 3/4 in type l copper. He had trouble getting the old pipe apart at the soldered joints and was using a pipe wrench and pliers to get it apart. He replaced a very small piece with proper copper and put everything back together. He used my old 3/4 “ copper for the rest. In Aug I sprang another leak in the pipe he was twisting on with a pipe wrench. You can see where it was dented and teeth marks in the pipe where the leak sprouted. I called him and he said he would be here next morning to have a look. He called back after 5 and told me he had advised me to go with type l for the rest, he did tell me that after he put everything back together and I agreed with him. I then told him the leak was where the pipe wrench was and I could see the marks. He began to get defensive and I did become angry as he was not listening. I also asked him why he didn’t use normal 3/4”, which was on there, to replace the piece he pried on, he said he didn’t have any. I said there are places in Lacombe that sell it and I could have picked it up. Don’t know any plumbers that come and not have normal supplies. I never said I would not pay for the upgrade but I feel the new leak was caused by him. He then said he would not be coming the next day at 9:00. I said he has left me in a bind as I had my water off and it was to late to call another Plummer. He then hung up on me. This is my opinion. He is very unprofessional and does not stand behind his work. Beware.

My furnace suddenly stopped working and I checked for local furnace repair shops for prices. Cal's had the best hourly rate so I called. Cal was very personable and came to help very quickly. It didn't take him long to figure out what the problem was. It was a faulty heat sensor. He fixed it up right away. I was very pleased with his service and fast response to the issue. He also has a good old school business ethic. I will definitely give him the first call if I ever run into problems again.

We've had them come out twice now and have been very pleased with the work and the prices. Would definitely hire them again and would definitely recommend to others.
