Golden Lion Restaurant
Fantastic food here, decent prices and nice staff. The old standards are great at this place. My personal favorite are the won ton soup, sweet and sour pork and their Cantonese chow mein. It reminded me back home in Chinatown in Vancouver.Would come again!

I feel I need to share not because of the disappointing meals I've had the last two times but because of the response of the restaurant when I brought it to their attention. I made a simple order of sweet and sour pork and chicken Chow Mein. The last time I ordered this combo there was very little sauce on the pork. I thought ok maybe just an off night and I let it go. Then tonight when I got home with my order... Same thing very little sauce. So I called and told the employee of my disappointment in the food. She put me on hold saying she had to speak to the kitchen. When she came back she apologized and said they would make sure to put more sauce on next time.... What does that even mean ? What I expected was an apology along with a credit for the next time, with the promise of better service and product. Unfortunately the best Chinese food in White Rock is going downhill... Fast

Terrible food….Food Descriptions Were not accurate at all. Ordered mixed vegetable house special which apparently means that it willCome with chicken shrimpOr beef, no where was explained- no option to select. No option for selectionChicken lettuce wraps were pretty much mixed veggie with littleChickenCalled To complain and pretty much met with I’m Sorry and that’s itNever would I ever order again

Very Americanized food. Bland, too many fried things, portions are medium. The sweet and sour pork, the pork Chow mein is what you would get in a mall, the shrimp, and chicken balls, (all done mall style) are batter and goodluck on gettingwhateverin a size you can taste inside this greasy little bundle of batter. Not very Chinese, and I eat and have been eating Chinese food all my life, it is my favourite go to. After living in Richmond for many years and that expanded my horizons, many of my Asian friends say Richmond has better made higher quality restaurants than most of China. This place need an upgrade, especially the signage, the owners need to hire some professionals and watch the money pour in, that location with attention getting signs, add good food in comfortable surroundings, it's a huge money maker.

We order every week here for years now and lately the kitchen has been making a mistake on our orders...three times to be exact. When this happened the first two times we were given a credit of 2 to 3 dollars ( the difference in price of the dish) however when this was brought to Connie's attention the third time she blamed us and didn't give us a credit for anything and as a matter of fact blamed us for the mistake by saying we should check our order before we leave the restaurant. Not very good business to blame your long time customers. We won't be ordering there for awhile....if ever again. Once is understandable, twice is bad and the third time it's unacceptable. They should treat their customers better, not blame them for their mistakes. Very disappointing.

The people were nice and the restaurant seemed quite clean and organized. The food was a bit on the bland side though and some things like the mapo tofu didn't seem very fresh. I'd probably order the mixed veggies again but nothing else we ordered unfortunately. But thats just me.

I'm not certain why all the raving reviews. I came into town exhausted, overworked and late. I was apprehensive at first because the building appeared to be vacant of any customers now or ever but Google said they were open so I leaped at something without a drive thru. The (I assume) husband and wife were friendly and inviting. I chose two dinners just in case I wanted to snack the next day; the almond chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and the egg roll. The almond chicken I believe is actually old or has been sitting around it's literally all Bread and no chicken, very dry. Even the looks of it isn't appetizing unless you like breadding saturated with grease.very disappointed. The sweet and sour chicken with pork fried rice wasn't too bad, very typical thick breading, eat a few and you're set for 6 months, rice lite, not heavy at all but a bit bland I could have used some salt. The egg roll was probably the best eggroll I have ever had. If the staff ( mom & pop) weren't as friendly as they were I believe I'd be more apt to give them a one rating, but I feel an immense amount of guilt writing this review because they were so nice and the place has been around over 30 years so they must be doing something right. It is highly possible I caught them on a very bad night obviously at the end of the night and they needed to dump their leftovers.. however, the items I did get were very basic and that even on a good day I believe there's a little Chinese food amongst the breading.

Visited with my sisters a couple days ago.Loved the quiet atmosphere when we came in. Received glasses of water a few mins after being seated and loved that they also gave us the pitcher so we could refill ourselves. The waitress was quite busy with answering phones and doing the takeout/pickups, but was perfect for us during the time we needed to decide what to order with 100% certainty.Our entire order was brought to the table around same time so we had all 4 dishes in front of us. I loved the decorated dishware.Finished with enough to take home one container of leftovers which we gave to my mom for her work break that evening.Overall a great experience for me!

The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. This was the best Chinese food that I have had in many years.
