Dougies Chimney Sweep

Great service

I rang when a nest had fallen down the chimney. It was easter bank holiday and we had guests coming to stay. He arrived that afternoon and got the chimney sorted in no time. Great service. Fully recommended.

They never answer the phone! That’s fine for the innocent caller (me) who just assumes they’re a small busy outfit and out and about sweeping chimneys as they should be. So, I left a message and the next day received an answer and booked my sweep plus a service as I’ve just moved into the property and not yet used the log burner.Paul (Dougie’s son) come out, struggled a bit with the fire service and sweeping, did a test by lighting some newspaper which bellowed smoke into the room every time he opened the stove door. He left telling me the back draft was more than likely due to the chimney being cold.I’ve now lit the fire, warmed the chimney and every time I open the door the room fills with smoke! Phoned Dougie’s back 9 (nine) times, 9 times nobody answered, left 5 messages, sent 2 emails and I’m still waiting!I get the feeling all they want to do is sweep. If they have a problem (or cause one) they don’t want to know. I'm now left with smoke and carbon monoxide fumes in my home with the associated health risks. They're HETAS registered so I'll explore that one later :-)The ‘not answering the phone and email type of service’ that they offer is great if you have a lot of unhappy or poisoned customers and presumably that’s who they’re hiding from! Fortunately, they’re not the only sweep around so I now have my second sweep in a month booked. Being December I’m hoping Santa will be impressed by my diligence.

Doug came out to have give me a quote for the full fitting and plastering the chimney breast an date was set and booked a month ahead of time. it came to the morning of the fitting and I couldn't remember the time of the appointment so got in touch and was told he would be with me mid/late morning. When 1pm came along I got in touch again only to be told because I hadn't been in contact with Doug since the time of booking the appointment he wasn't coming anymore. They also said if I wanted the work doing I would have to wait another 2 months for him to fit me in. Would not recommend at all this is the second time they have let me down now. DO NOT TRUST!!
