I got the stew beef with rice, while my friend got the crispy chicken with curry. While the beef was juicy, soft, and flavourful, the tofu and cauliflower did not live up to the rest of the raving reviews. My friend's curry dish did not come with rice even though the menu showed that it was included. Overall, the stew beef was the best part of the meal.

Update 2023 January 25We came back at dinner and ordered from the $35 set.Pick item from A - Salt Pepper Chicken, crunchy soft tasty morsels..Pick Item B - Pineapple Prawns, tasty but too much mayo for our tasteIncludes Garlic stir fried Vegetables- Bok Choy , Soft fried Tofu, either Iced Black Tea or Miso Soup + 2 bowls of rice.It was a good value set and the food came out at a timely fashion.***********************Checked out a small Taiwanese place in Crystal Mall in Burnaby.. it’s actually outside of Crystal Mall by the entrance to the parking. Google Map says it’s a Kingsway address. My friend said it was the old Alisan, it’s now called Aroma Eatery. Seats about 10-15 people with 2 four tops and 3 two tops and some bar chairs by the window. We both ordered the Beef Noodle Soup as we read on other reviews that they run out fast.It was delicious with tender large chunks of beef, lovely al dente noodles and slurp-worthy soup base. The soup is slightly sweet more than salty, very flavourful. The noodle also comes with cold Sweetened black tea which was a happy surprise to us.While we were there a few family dropped in to eat and I see the many sets they offered was devoured by happy eaters. We will go back again to try the different boxed sets and combo meals.

TLDR - Great value home-cooked style food with heart / Perfect low-key dine out / Bring your own take-out containers or buy for a small feeCame here with my mom and we had a very nice lunch. Located outside just to the right of the parkade entrance, it was a bit confusing as the signage about the door was from a previous restaurant but there is a sandwich board outside that will assure you that they indeed exist. It's a very quaint place that will serve well for a quiet meal. The kind elderly cook came out to greet us and made some small talk while we were deciding on our orders, making us feel very much at home. As for the food, we got the combo deal (entree A+B, a plate of Asian vegetables, and a generous side of deep fried pillowy tofu). It also came with two bowls of rice and a choice for miso soup or old-fashioned black tea (highly recommend the iced tea - it's delicious). Deep fried chicken nuggets were solid, and I discovered the red bean curd pork was similar to a dish I had at Myst (but labeled fried red yeast pork - basically a sweet and savory cutlet). The amount of food was too much to finish, so we took the rest home. Please note there is an understandable charge for containers so I suggest bringing your own (my friend recommends keeping some in the car). I can't wait to share this place with others (:

Authentic, home style Taiwanese cuisine. I come here when I am missing Taiwan and craving some hometown food. At lunch they have a 2 person combo which comes with a variety of dishes and we always have leftovers.

Go early if you want the beef noodle soup!! Unfortunately we came too late and they were completely sold out. We decided to try the Kung Po chicken and rice combo and the pepper steak rice combo instead along with the salt and pepper chicken and deep fried tofu. Everything seemed to be made with care and love. The salt and pepper chicken really stood out! I will be back to tackle the beef noodle soup one day.

Amazing authentic food. The family that owns the restaurant gave some great suggestions on favourite items. The tea is brewed to order and was awesome. Went back the next morning for 2 more. The fried chilli chicken was delicious if not some of the best I have ever had. Their pickled cucumbers were very fresh and flavourful. Kung Poa chicken was a classic style with a nice heat and tangy.I was in town for a couple days but could have eaten there everyday.

Salt and pepper chicken was delicious, seasoned perfectly, crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Taiwanese sausage was good but a bit dry. Would not recommend the stew beef with tomato on rice, very bland and gooey. Also ordered a wonton soup - wontons were flavoured nicely although small, broth was light. Overall, portions are a good size for the price. Combos come with rice and a drink. Place is small.

Hidden little gem right in crystal mall. Really good value for the quality and quantity of food given. Everything was made fresh and served hot! The rice combo with side dishes included deep fried tofu and vegetables. The shrimp and masago rice was phenomenal. Will be going back.

A true hidden gem. This mom and pop Taiwanese restaurant at Crystal Mall serves up delicious and authentic food. Very reasonably priced for large portions and the server was really nice.

Your classic mom & pops serving affordable, hot fresh made-to-order dishes. The highlight is the 32 two-person special that comes with an A + B + fried tofu + choy + drink. Great portion sizes. We ordered two sets for five people. The salt pepper chicken is perfect, fried tofu is crispy, good amount of choy. The bulgogi beef was on the oily side and the pineapple shrimp was a bit watery but delicious and would still order again.
