Changing Places

Jane was a lifesaver for my Mother and I - I honestly don't know how we would have managed my Mom's move without her. Jane was kind, professional and did all the work in a timely manner. She also knew just what my Mom should keep for her move into a retirement community. I have recommended Jane to all of my friends who need to move an aging parent!

So grateful for all that Jane provides. We have worked with Jane on multiple situations and consistently she has provided us with, not only her 'changing places' services but an amount of caring and guidance in such difficult times that we are forever grateful. Highly recommend her services in your times of need.

My experience with Changing Places Vancouver was horrendous and the point of the post is to warn people about this company. They are taking advantage of people who have to deal with aging parents estates. They removed easily 10K plus of household goods/antiques etc...So far my big return has been $180. They tell you they’ll work with you to remove household items and get you the best price...what a joke!!! The last stage of my parent’s move-out consisted of the big furniture that was left to stage the sale of the house. This furniture was Danish mid-modern in beautiful condition which when they took it to the auction house they normally used to find it was going out of business, rather than phone me for new instruction, they donated it to charity...or so they say...no proof of that. You would think that after dealing with the household goods since February to June, they would have developed and plan and had some alternatives for these types of situations. Well apparently not, there is no project management here...you'd be better off giving everything to relatives or selling it yourself with a garage sale and then just hire some movers to take what’s left over to the dump or charity...because at over 8K for their services you would be way better off and know where exactly your stuff went!

I've worked with Jane and her clients numerous times and she always puts her heart into serving her clients. I'd recommend Jane anytime.

I would like to thank Jane and her team for all the help they provided to us in clearing out my mother's home after she passed away earlier this year. Mom had been in the house for 57 years, and while many things went into the house during those 57 years, very little left the house! With their help, we were able to clear the home, then list and sell the property for well over the asking price. I'm sure that we would not have been able to do this on our own, certainly not in the few short but intense weeks that it took to complete the job. Jane charged very reasonable rates, coordinated services with other providers, was very responsive, and also very sensitive and supportive to us. Thank you Jane! :)

Jane was very helpful with how we should organize the home to make our move as successful as possible. Jane and girls were all very caring and respectful as they dealt with us at this stressful time. They packed all my aunt's belonging very carefully.Pricing was very fair and reasonable. When the men who moved us arrived they were friendly and did a great job of moving our belongings.From beginning to end we were very pleased with changingplaces.ca and would recommend them to all.

I am sorry I let this woman in my house. I hired because I am a disabled senior and needed help to downsize and move.I felt belittled and humilated throughout our first and only session that is, until I collected myself and got mad. I think she must have thought that because I have mobility and pain issues, I was also an idiot. She mocked my possessions. She tried to grab a beautifully embroidered pouch my mother made to hold pictures of my dog calling it a dirty old rag". She refused to follow instructions as to where to place sorted boxes. She unpacked boxes that I had previously sorted and left me to repack them. She snorted at virtually every item of my clothing she touched and ridiculed the rest. At the end of this sorting she offered me unsolicited fashion advice and told me I needed to "start dressing for my age. By the end of the session I was almost in tears.In my opinion this woman has a bit of a mean streak. She seemed to enjoy being critical of me and my possessions. She seemed to me to be the sort of person who builds herself up by knocking others down. That's my opinion anyway.And

Do not let them near your house or your loved ones. My mother's recent move was a total fiasco. Jane was rude and intimidating to my mother, did a horrendous job of packing her up and, were it not for the terrific movers, the day would have been a complete disaster. Boxes were unlabelled and packed with random items, cupboards we were told were empty were not empty. Jane honestly seemed much more interested in the resale opportunities of the furniture and sucking up to the realtor than in providing compassionate support for her client. Her total lack of organization increased the stress of the move and left piles of work for the family to do. Needless to say, we did not retain their services for the house staging. Would not recommend Changing Places to anyone.
