I preface this overwhelmingly negative review after many visits to this venue to neither the concert hall nor the performing artists. But the people that go there. Continuing on,This venue has by far some of the most disrespectful viewership that I have EVER partaken in sharing a space with.Imagine if you will practising for years, hours a day. Only to step into the Sydney Opera house and hearing what I will describe below. Not a chance. But here is what Montreal based goers who frequent this venue will grace you with. From coughing from hundreds of people with the longest I counted being 10 seconds throughout the quietest parts of Vivaldi and even ones which were loud enough to surpass the volume of the loudest parts of Ástor Piazzolla’s loudest tango segments.Truly the most disrespectful crowd I’ve witnessed over and over. Between hundreds of people over multiple performances over a year.None of which occurs in any other hall for plays or ballet in Place de Arts as per so many collated experiences.Let alone in any other concert hall I’ve ever been around the world big or small.People had kids who would sing from the highest seats. People who came in smelling of smoke and weed after intermission to a not insignificant degree. People who were dropping glass bottles mid performance. People who were hacking and coughing in a way they they were neither trying to suppress the cough. Made worse by the fact that people clearly could hold it in.If you go here ensure you’re fine with these caveats as well as the lack of a dress code. Because while the performances have been fantastic and the hall is acoustically impressive.Oh by the gods you will hear the degenerate disrespectful troglodytes that flock to Maison Symphonique in particular start coughing. But only when the lights dim and will cease only once the performance stops. No no. No incessant noise before the performance, during intermission or after though.Only glorious acoustically enhanced surround sound spacial spluttering during the performance coming from all around. If I sound bloody annoyed. It’s because I am.If you would be too avoid this venue because it’s definitely not one that attracts a crowd that respects the performing arts when it comes to orchestras.

Magnificent place with an amazing acoustic. Had a great time at the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. This is next level of pleasure and serenity. This place is very emotional. I recommend going once in your life to live the experience.

Went to see Melody Gardot at the Jazz Fest. Perfect venue for her dusky jazz voice and huge band. The acoustics are amazing and the place is gorgeous. Sightlines are good regardless of where you sit.

We were fortunate to see the Montreal symphony here. (OSM) The music was largely Star Wars excerpts. The artists were quite talented. Especially the principal tuba, Austin Howle, from Mississippi! The venue is comfortable with great acoustics. We would love to go back.
