Artika Condos

This building is very very hot in the summer time, especially in the layout I had. The building is quite expensive. Management takes forever to respond to things. I moved out of Artika August 31 and still have not received the statement of account balance back yet even though it has been past 10 business days. People always leave the one door open so anyone could come into the building. The neighbourhood is becoming more and more unsafe. Some people who live there are disgusting and leave big messes in the garbage room. They left our door without batteries for 4 days so we couldn’t lock our door if we left.

The one plus for Artika is that it accepts dogs of all sizes. That is something. But we cannot recommend Artika for three main reasons: 1) The windows don't open very far and our unit was stifling in the summer heat. People were staying in hotels during the heat wave. 2) Management did nothing to fix the locks on the outer doors and people were getting into the building and doing weird and bad things. 3) During COVID, not one sign was ever posted by management to encourage residents to wear masks or social distance.There were other issues as well but w gave up trying to care or communicate with management after several tries. Oliver is a beautiful area but it is not the neighbourhood it once was. The problems of the downtown core are extending out now and we ran out of good answers to explain what was the point of living anywhere downtown anymore.Note: It will soon be 50 days and counting from the time we gave up possession of our unit and still no security deposit refund in the mail, even after numerous emails and calls. That alone speaks volumes. Also, our unit was on the second floor facing the alley and we witnessed more than anyone would ever want to.

First the safety in the building and property is non-existent. The building was broken into so many times in the year we lived there I lost count.Second, the HVAC system never works as well as most of their appliances.Third, when we moved out we cleaned the entire apartment and took pictures of everything because I had a feeling they would try to keep most of our damage deposit and I was right. They said the cleaning people took three hours to clean our 650sq ft suite that we left immaculate. Then they sent us pictures of another suite that was filthy.Thankfully I had the evidence to prove they were lying and using pictures of another suite.McLeod realty the company who manages Artika will do anything to save a buck including lying and using false evidence and even at the expense of Tennant's safety.There are better places to live than Artika.

Main reason for my 1 star is that I'm having to sue to get my damage deposit back, it's been over a month and I haven't received a penny, they tried to charge me for extra days I didn't live there for, the property management company has also broken several laws trying to keep money from me. They will dodge all of your emails and phone calls as well when trying to resolve the issues. As for the building, it's loud, people blast music at 2am regularly, last summer it was reaching temps of 38C at night inside my apartment, making it unlivable. It may look nice on the outside, but it's not worth the nightmare that awaits you. Stay clear.
