Emma is an amazing dog trainer! She worked with Ivan, who used to be scared and reactive on a leash the second we left the house. I had taken him to another trainer a few months before whose training style seemed harsh and only made things worse. A few sessions with Emma and Ivan was almost a different dog. I learned a lot from watching her work with him. I feel like I was given the tools I needed to keep working with Ivan on my own. If you're looking for a great dog trainer, definitely go to Emma! I cannot recommend Emma enough as a dog trainer! Over the last six months, she has been working with our Bernese Mountain Dog puppy Barley, and the results have been incredible. After a lot of research we decided to get a high energy working breed but soon after bringing our puppy home we were starting to lose confidence in our ability to train such a curious and intelligent dog. Her energy was limitless and she was incredibly “opinionated.” Walks were stressful because literally every stone, stick, leaf, or piece of litter ended up in her mouth. Her “baby shark phase” was also off the charts and there were many tears and bandaids everyday. We took a 6 week session with Emma and ended up taking 2 more (12 weeks) because it was the best thing we ever did. Emma gave us the confidence to persevere through some very difficult puppy behaviours and gave us amazing strategies to make life more manageable. Class every week was something we all looked forward to, including our puppy! It wasn’t just “training time” but instead could be described as “relationship building time.” Emma is a master at nurturing the bond between you and your dog, the outcome of which is great obedience skills. When we were on our way to our last class with Emma I happened to notice a half-eaten hot dog on the sidewalk. I couldn’t have been prouder of our pup because she just walked over it as we made our way to the facility. The value of class was greater than a hot dog, that's enough said.

Emma is the type of (really very nice) individual you hope to meet but her type do not grow on trees. The classes she taught on Canine Behavior were comprehensive, entertaining, and most of the time just plain fun.
