Shepherd's Care Foundation- Kensington Village

My mom has lived here since 2012 and absolutely loves it.The staff are all wonderful and everyone says hi to you in the halls.There are lots of activities to stay active and meet people. Can't say enough good things about this place.

We had lunch here today. I had the all day breakfast. Two eggs, two bacon, two toast, and two hash brown. Each day there is a special or you can order off the menu. Today Salsbury steak.

The vast majority of the staff that provide my Mother with care are excellent. In my experience the staff keep me well informed about how my mother is doing and if any concerns arise. They encourage my Mother to participate in activities but appropriately respect the times that she declines. I have found the staff at the Kensington campus to be very caring, kind and to be very hard working.

Heartfelt thanks to the caring staff of Kensington Good Shepherd Care, Edmonton, for the respectful, compassionate, well-ordered care offered to its residents. My mother's final days were spent amongst knowledgeable staff - both hands on as well as administration - who provided exceptional health wellness and promotion of personal and collective family interests. No matter time of day or night that I arrived, mom was well-dressed, participating as much as her abilities allowed in social activities in bright surroundings. It was a pleasure to see residents being kindly tended to. We each shall some day be vulnerable due to disease, accident or age and must all do our best to preserve love, integrity, ethical consideration, promotion of dignity and comfort of our loved ones who may lack the strong voices they once commanded. Thank you to this wonderful facility for helping maintain values in keeping with genuine care focused on family-centred care principles.

They have taken such good care of my dad. He is so happy here.

I live across the street and judging from the staff, (that have NO regard, what-so-ever, for the ppl that live around here!), that park in front of our homes for 16+ hours a day, (8 hrs/shift), and could care less if the residents of said homes, would like to park in front of our homes when we get home from work, or perhaps have company, or have an ailing/aging family member ourselves that would like to come visit and not have to walk 3 blocks to get to our house because all of the Sheppard's Care staff can't walk an extra 50 steps to get to their 8.5 hr shifts?!Then? Here's the kicker!!Today I had the pleasure of watching one of the above said workers sit in her vehicle and proceed to dump garbage, including what looked like coffee, out her door on to the street!...right in front of my house!!! I confronted her and asked why she would do that as I live here and don't appreciate it!". She smirked and giggled while unapologetically said sorry and continued to walk to Sheppard's Care. Never did go clean up her mess! I wonder what would happen if the tables were reversed?They park in front of clearly marked "no parking" signs. One lady backed right over one! Never did pick it up or anything. Just kept on trucking. They box you in so tight

Awful. Do not let the nice look of the place fool you. The care is almost non existent. The staff is non existent.T he management is poor and is selling you snake oil. Food is poor, snacks are small to non existent. Bathroom help is a joke. My mother suffered greatly here and I whole heartedly regret placing her here. I will regret it for the rest of my life. DO NOT place a loved one here....for their peice of mind and your own.

Don't buy your parents a condo here if they are not independent. You will not get any help from the foundation. They do not care about the seniors living in the condos. Going through Covid with a senior Mom with the starting stage of dementia has been a nightmare. Horrible communication with families. Just excuses. Lovely receptionist, home care workers, and volunteer grocery helpers though. Thank God for them because the higher ups" could care less."

So far so so good. My mother has bee been here for over a year now and the facility and staff are excellent. My mom is in daily assisted living and she has been happy here. There is a lack of visitor parking so you have to park on a nearby street. There is some at the very front of the building but the entrance to my moms section is at the back of the building. It’s okay. We could go through the front but easier to go to the back entrance. COVID has made access more difficult at times and you always have to wear a mask. The building is clean and well lit. Mom comes to a central dining room for her meals and it works well. I have seen some of the meals and they always smell good and look appetizing, she says she likes her meals. Mom is content with her little room.

Shepherds care foundation has cared for my Grandparents for 17 years. Now my father resides there. Appreciate the fine care and wonderful facilities that make this place a blessing to our family.
