Katie's Place

Katie's Place is a shelter for animals (mostly cats) staffed by dedicated volunteers. A wonderful place to visit if you want your heart stolen by one of these adorable felines. We adopted a cat named Roger Taylor who had been in Katie's Place for over a year. We were told we would need to give Roger Taylor space as he was a work in progress since he came to the shelter an angry cat and it took a while before he showed interest in any form of human interaction. Our subsequent visits to Roger Taylor confirmed that he was a bit aloof but didn't mind having people around. To our surprise and amazement, a little over 24 hours after we took our cat (now named Charlie) home, we got an affectionate and loving feline instead of a grumpy cat. I believe the care given by the volunteers of Katie's Place to Charlie (and the other cats in the shelter) lit a spark and reminded him of what a home could be. All we did was provide a forever home for the transformation to be complete. A big thank you to everyone at Katie's Place for helping cats feel wanted and loved.Now if we can only convince our cat Charlie that he's not the master of the house.

Katie's Place is a no-kill shelter served by all wonderful volunteers who dedicate time, service, and special love to abandoned, stray and surrendered kitties that are so much in need af TLC, & often, medical attention. We do everything we can to find these precious trusts permanent loving forever homes. Please visit if you are considering having a pet ~ or~ volunteer to help in a variety of ways.

I enjoyed the short time that I was there today. The staff I spoke to were very friendly and helpful. Some of the cats were quite friendly.

Katie's Place is clean and spacious, allowing the cats some outdoor access with fresh air and a view of trees, birds, squirrels and greenery. This is wonderful so the cats don't feel so pent up in the time they are housed at the shelter. Whether it be a short stay, but especially important if it's a long stay. The cats are not isolated, but housed with others so that they feel a sense of comaraderie and cat community. The cats have soft blankets, toys, beds, perches, scratching posts, cat trees for great vantage points, ample good food and fresh water.The volunteers obviously love the cats and do all they can to make sure the individual needs of the various cats with their differing personalities are met to the best of their ability.This shelter is very diligent in making sure the medical needs of the compromised cats are met with great vet care.The fact that the shelter is very careful to match the right cat to the right human for adoption is understandable. Many of these cats have already been misplaced, or neglected or abandoned. Nothing is sadder than to see a cat finally get adopted and then, returned.Katie's Place does all they can to help each cat find their ideal home and in the meantime, give them a safe and comfortable home environment. These volunteers are particularly sensitive to the special needs cats and the elderly. Which is wonderful, considering some of these cats were strays, sickly and some were very neglected.

The cats who stay here are known just for who they are and are clearly adored. The volunteers provide such excellent care, and are always the most compassionate advocates for these cats. We found a permanent foster cat here, Oscar, and the shelter director and volunteers have always been nothing but attentive to any needs we had. Oscar's adoption fees were waived and his vet costs are covered for the rest of his life, simply because he has FIV. There isn't one single thing that actually makes him different, and in fact he is the most wonderful companion anyone could hope to have. Thank you Katie's Place for everything that you do!

No-kill shelter that takes in every cat, no matter how supposedly unadoptable" and either rehabs them or re-homes them at a feral colony. Very caring volunteers. If you're looking for a fuzzy addition to your family
