Overall, Mabu Generation is rather mediocre all things considered. Although some menu items here do stand out, the majority are exceptionally overpriced. On busy nights, you can expect to join a virtual Queue and will have to go elsewhere and wait for a table to open meanwhile, which detracts from the experience. The atmosphere is rather flashy and aesthetic, though not necessary comfortable. It feels more so like a trendy pub at times, as it can get quite crowded and loud.Of the food, notable appetizers include the okonomiyaki fries and the Deep Fried Tofu with Garlic Sauce, both being exceptionally flavourful for the price. I don't recommend the BBQ crab sticks as they tasted as if they were overseasoned with pepper. Entree-wise, I highly recommend sharing the Mabu Egged Sukiyaki with Rice, although pricey, it is exceptionally filling and is definitely a meal fit for more than one person. I'd advise against getting the House Special Deep Fried Pork Chop with Mapo Tofu sauce on rice. For the price, it isn't really noteworthy, nor does it taste as spicy as one would expect of mapo Tofu and is overall a letdown.I will note however that the rice bowls are decently filling, and probably one of the few decent recommendations at Mabu. Likewise, the only other solid options at Mabu are the desserts, but they are exceptionally overpriced. If you're fine with burning a bit of cash, sharing either the mango or matcha honey cube toast ice cream tower with friends is a solid choice, same applies to the Mabu House Special Grass Jelly with Brown Sugar Milk Tea.To conclude, Mabu Generation is overpriced, underwhelming and overrated.

Overall, my experience at this Taiwanese restaurant was a pleasant one. The hot pot dish was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic Taiwanese dining experience, and I look forward to visiting again soon. Btw do not get fooled by the size of the hotpot!! It actually is huge and can be shared with at least 2 people!

Went in to grab a small bite late at night. Now I think I found my new favourite! Their food is so delicious and so well seasoned. When I came in, the restaurant was PACKED, we sat after 10-15 mins and the wait was worth it, the manager even gave us free dessert as an apology for waiting. Their restaurant was closed when we ordered but they even waited for us until we finished. So happy about the service and the food, it’s rare but definitely a gem

Every dish I’ve tried was really tasty and well seasoned. The service was very prompt and friendly. It’s similar to Petit Potato in terms of menu and ordering style. You order by scanning the QR code and adding items to your cart on their website. Make sure to hit order and that your order processed otherwise the order won’t be sent to the kitchen. You can also order with the servers the regular way.I recommend the Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken and House Special Milk Pudding! Their sizzling plates and hot pot are great as well.

Super quick service and delicious food! You can order your food by simply scanning a QR code which takes you to a website where you can just input your order directly. You don't even need to call a server over to take your order, making this system much quicker and more efficient. My friend and I were already impressed with the ordering system, and then we were further blown away with the speed of their service. We got our first orders probably in under 5 mins of us placing them. Then the rest of our orders came in short intervals as well! We weren't even finished taking pictures of our previous dish and the next one was already on its way. With regards to the food itself, I ordered Okonomiyaki Fries, the Japanese style Curry Cream & Garlic udon w/ Tempura paired with Ice Honey Chrysanthemum Rose tea. while I personally thought the portion size to be average, if not a bit small. After eating, I quickly changed my mind, as I was already stuffed after eating one dish.I am not a big fan of udon but decided to give Maby Generations'Japanese style Curry Cream & Garlic udon w/ Tempura a chance and I'm glad I did! I couldn't stop eating after one bite. The udon noodles were soft and chewy while the curry cream and garlic were extremely savoury and delicious as well as perfect for dipping the Tempura shrimp in!Didn't get to eat too much of the okonomiyaki fries as I was already full from stuffing my face with curry udon but from what I had, I enjoyed it a lot.The Ice Honey Chrysanthemum tea tastes as good as it looks! It was a nice refreshing beverage that was not too sweet with some floral notes and paired nicely with the savory foods.I just don't recommend that you come during peak hours (eg. During the dinner rush) or else you may have to eat a bit quicker to accommodate other guests due to limited space.

Came here on a Saturday for lunch, thankfully there was no wait even though it was very busy. I suggest calling in before going.Everything here looks very delicious and is well presented.I got the spicy nooodles, but I was disappointed since it had zero meat.We also got the matcha fried toast tower. They put dry ice in the plate, which made it amazing for presentation. However, it was not super special tasting, just crunchy toast with green tea ice cream. Only worth it you are sharing with a large group of people.

Pretty good Taiwanese spot. I loved the decor and vibe. There were retro movie posters and a large cute mural on the opposite wall. Everything appeared to be made of wood. The food was fairly good. I really liked the hot plate. I found the hot pot to be just okay. The portion was good for 2 people. Taste-wise it was okay, not amazing. The desserts looked pretty ridiculous and very sweet. The service was very good and attentive. I would probably come for the other sizzling plates and maybe the dessert with a group.

Fine modern Taiwanese fare that’s easy on the eyes but not so much on the wallet. I found overall the food was more on the oily side, especially the mini hotpot. Despite that, there are a lot of ‘fun’ things to order on the extensive menu, especially with desserts and the bubble tea pot.

This would be the second eatery in Canada that I’m like… “This is it”The braised pork rice tasted very well balanced with enough sauce to cover the rice. The Mapo tofu pork was awesome too. Decent portion. They provide free water.Oh oh… 10% off if you pay by cash. Hence that almost contra the 13% HST

I got many recommendations for this restaurant. The food was great: crispy chicken, soft and juicy pork feet. The cocktail was pretty and not strong. But the customer service experience was not good:1. the menu needed to scan QR code, while the network was super bad in the restaurant. I struggled for a while until I was told there was wifi available by waiters.2. The crispy chicken rice actually included egg, but not mentioned on the menu. Then I added extra egg while ordering. At the end I got 2 eggs and no one reminded me of it…Overall it’s great and some customer service experience can be improved.
