Kumon Math and Reading Centre of Kitchener - Ira Needles/Highland

Our son has been enrolled with Katerina for a couple of years. He has autism & we can honestly say that Katerina & her staff have been amazing! They are aware of Mason's needs & what he is capable of & have been very concerned about his well being & also inquiring how he is doing in school. Mason has shown such growth & we are very appreciative of Katerina, her staff & Kumon as a whole of everything they have done & will continue to do for Mason. Thank you Kumon!

My two daughters both attend the Ira Needles Kumon for the last two years and are enrolled in the Math and Reading programs. Although, my girls were both doing well in school before, I was not happy with how the school was teaching math and moved so quickly through subjects. They are now both straight A students with the help of this program, and are well above grade level in these subjects. Also, Caroline the owner is amazing. My girls look up to her and are comfortable going to her for any help they need. Caroline is great at communicating with the parents and keeping us updated. We have regular meetings to discuss our children, their work and goals. I highly recommend Kumon and this particular location.

My son is almost 7 years of age and he has been attending kumon for the past 8+ months. I am extremely disappointed in their service. We take the time to take our kids to their centre only for them to sit there alone and struggle. The staff is not helpful. They don’t even sit with our kids to provide some help and parents are continuously requesting staff to help. They do not point out any weaknesses so we can focus on that and improve. We are never provided with any patterns of mistakes of his work so he can focus on improving in specific areas. He has not been provided with any tips and tricks to better solve math problems. His mental math has not gotten better. This concern was mentioned to Caroline, the current manager of this location a few times, but absolutely nothing was done about it. They have many kids but not enough staff members to help out properly, they should have less kids so they can deliver quality service. For $160+/month, we can hire a private tutor who can actually sit with our son or provide engaging virtual help. The only reason I am writing this post is so parents have an idea before signing up their children.

Please ignore reviews that are from 3 years ago or more. Now the centre is run by Caroline and she is amazing as manager and as teacher. Even during this crazy times she put plan in action so kids can continue to learn and be safe.Highly recommend the program and especially this centre - my daughter is in high school now and has no problems with math or physics. And she actually loves math now :)They also are great will little kids - I saw them doing one-on-one lessons with 5-6 years old.Stay safe!

I signed up my grade 1 son from about 4 months ago, he wasn't reading when he joined now he reads and progressing very well. What I like most is how Caroline is dedicated and committed to the children's success. She has been very helpful and kind in showing us how my son will progress and how we and Kumon can work together to achieve his learning goals. Caroline is also very responsive when we have an issue with changing the class schedule. I once had a complaint about one teacher who really didn't know how to teach a grade 1 student during this crazy time of online learning. She listened to my compliant and immediately reacted and assigned my son to another amazing teacher Sophia" I strongly recommend this place to anyone who has a child struggling in school or behind his/her school level or even if you want your child to excel. My daughter has been going to Kumon for almost two years now ( Ira Needles Center). We have noticed a big improvement in her math skills. She is more confident then before. Caroline the owner is so approachable to the kids and parents. I highly recommend this Center.

In my experience, the Ira Needles Kumon Centre is the last place that anyone who cares about their children’s and their own emotional and financial well-being should have any association with. I am still being owed money and monthly fees that I was charged unbeknownst to me, long after I took my child out of the programme. Repeat attempts to recover what’s rightfully mine in a civilized manner were initially met with raised voices and ultimately with indifference and contempt. Biggest mistake I made was to allow pre-authorized payments, as in the Centre’s access to my account…not good at all. I truly hope the reader will learn from my experience and I am the last one to be abused by these people…
