The Surly Mermaid
Had a bit of a wait as we arrived at the peak evening hour. Beautiful evening to sit and wait by the marina until we got our phonecall to say our table was ready. Friendly staff and a lovely table out on the patio. Lovely vegetarian burger. Please consider more vegan options. Your vegan chocolate mousse was beautiful. Thanks

What an awesome place to have lunch before catching the ferry. We called for a reservation for 8 girls and luckily we did as the place was packed. The decor and atmosphere are great. The waitress took into consideration that we were short on time and delivered our food in a super timely manner. The caesars were delicious, the clam chowder has to be tried and did not disappoint any of us. My friend had the Peanut Butter burger and she told me it was one of the best burgers that she has ever had! We will be back and can't wait to try other items on the menu.Thank you for such a nice experience at the end of our girls weekend away.

The Surly Mermaid
Went for a beautiful spring drive out to Sidney and did a walk-in at this wonderful marina view restaurant. We ordered the squid - yum!! I had the shrimp tacos (picture) and we ordered the mushroom burger (picture). Balance of favour was complex yet somehow simple. Patio looks to be a great summer spot for Happy Hour!!!

We were recently on vacation in the Sidney area and decided to call a few places to check if their patios were dog-friendly as we brought our Mini Aussie with us on vacation for the first time. Called the Surly Mermaid and confirmed that their patio definitely allowed dogs on it but not that day due to the patio being closed as it was raining. We arrived for dinner the following day and after letting the hostess know we had a dog and after waiting 20 minutes for a table, we were brought to our table. However, we were then told that the dog was in fact NOT allowed on the patio and that he had to be on the other side of a half-fence which borders the patio. As a result, we had to thread the leash through the fence and this presented quite a few challenges. After a couple of minutes, we decided that this did not work for us or the dog, so we left before the server arrived. If we had received a better understanding of their dog policy, this could have all been avoided and our time wouldn't have been wasted.

Be careful with hairs in the food!!!We didn't see it at the beginning because it was on the garlic and we just wanted the compote that was included as a side, but we noticed after we started eating, we mentioned to the waitress and she only said gross"

Best calamari ever with a great selection of local beers. I would highly recommend the whole menu and with the outside patio you couldn't ask for a better atmosphere.
