Zen Sanuki Udon
I was very excited to try this place based on Zen's reputation. Everything we ordered was great. For the price you are paying though, $25 on average for a bowl of udon, I was expecting it to be exceptional and it just wasn't for me. The service was attentive and friendly as you'd expect from a restaurant of this style.If you can afford it and don't mind the price, you won't be disappointed. Otherwise, there are many other options in the area for great udon.

I see some low rating reviews comparing the udon here to “instant udon cooked at home by his wife.” Well unless this person’s wife is a professional Japanese chef, I am not quite sure he understood what Japanese food is.Overall I am happy with the food. The udon is Al denté and got a good chew. The sushi rice is very nice and not too firm. The only thing I would say can use some improvement is the unagi. It’s quite thin and the sauce is not flavourful enough. But overall happy.

Was feeling for udon and meaning to try this place. Got there right when they opened and it quickly filled up! We got a counter seat and got to watch the chefs do their thing. The udon was amazing! Chewy but bouncy and the shrimp tempura was massive! The chicken karage was so light on breading! They also make their own tofu in house so we tried the agedashi tofu and the set came with silken tofu and it was so so good. We could barely finish the tempura and unagi set but it was soooo good. We are definitely coming back to try other sets!Ma-ta-ne :)

I loved sitting at the bar for a more in depth look on how the food was made. The bar faces directly into the kitchen and you can see all the hard work the chefs put into the food. So cool!The food is amazing of course. The udon is bouncy, broth is light and the toppings are cooked to perfection. I highly recommend trying a udon with pork belly on it for the first time. It is sooo soft and super flavourful. The sushi here is also very well made. Definitely use high quality fish. Tastes delicious!Amazing service as well. Very kind servers. Will be back again and again!

I love coming here for udon, the quality of the food is always above and beyond, service is great and the udon noodles!!! So bouncy and chewy!This place is always packed so try to reserve yourself a table if you plan yo have dinner here on the weekends.

The best Udon in Toronto. The Udon are very smooth and springy with the Yummy soups. Eel rice is also fantastic. It is a perfect combination of fresh eel and rice cooked with special eel juice. It is very satisfying to eat in one bite

This place can be a little pricey but it's definitely one of the best udon places I've been to.Got the Buta Kaku Udon and Unagi Don set, and although usually I hate to eat any sort of fat, the pork belly in the udon almost just melted in my mouth. The soup was fairly flavourful but the eel maybe felt a bit overcooked.In terms of appetizers, the tempura doesn't stand out, but the tako wasabi is definitely worth a try (it's definitely more of an acquired taste but my table seemed to enjoy it)

As a udon lover I was really excited to try this place but the dishes left me somewhat disappointed. The tempura was a bit too greasy as was the broth in the spicy udon. Shrimps in the noodles were all massive, super fresh and the service was great but for a relatively costly meal, I must say it didn’t really live up to my expectations.

Lovely place but superrrr tiny. Definitely recommend a reservation for 4 or more people. Food was amazing, service was also good but man this place is pricey!!I had the udon with extra noodles. But I couldn’t really tell if I had extra noodles or not and even asked an employee who confirmed that I do have extra noodles… but seriously just looks the same as my friend’s bowl lol. Still, I wasn’t that full after my meal…Food is a solid 9/10 though. Udon was fresh and chewy. Pork belly literally just melted in my mouth. Beef was marinated well. If this place was cheaper, it’d def be a go-to spot of mine but this one trip dented my wallet so maybe only on special occasions.

Authentic Japanese flavour! Good dashi soup base for their udon, umai! Udon noodles are fresh and chewy, although not too much different from supermarket frozen udon. Price is slightly on the higher note for these dishes, but they use quality material and big prawn for the tempura. Their unagi(grilled eel) is very good! Like those ones in good sushi restaurants! Do not attempt the soft shell crab here. It’s not fresh and very fishy.
