Because we lost our location, we had to delay registration for two months last winter, which meant that we were unable to place more than one or two advertisements in local newspapers. As a result, we know that our enrollment was generated almost entirely by word-of-mouth and by our website. People spent an average of 4 mins. 52 seconds looking at it. Using Google Analytics, we could tell that people from all over the world were interested in Explorations. That data helped to give us the credibility to secure a new location. Having a good website was a major asset to our camp from many, many different points of view.As a graphic designer, I know that planning is key to a successful site. I had the opportunity to sit down and talk with the people at WSI for several hours about the needs of our clients and about how we anticipated their use of our site. Although there were some minor issues concerning the selection of the 70 activities, the staff at WSI understood our need for immediate corrections and the problem was fixed right away.
