1st Gear Motorcycle School & Training

The amount of support available from the instructors after the course is top notch. I originally took the three day Learn to Ride course in 2021 and passed the MST that is included in the course... but then did not ride for almost two years. Recently I retook my knowledge test and then contacted them to schedule an individual parking lot session to prepare to retake the MST, but was invited to join on a road prep/ride session instead (at a much lower cost!). It was enough to give me confidence to easily pass my MST retake on the first try. Thanks 1st Gear!

Ted and Todd are both absolutely fantastic instructors. Very knowledgeable, great teaching skills and they push you to become a better rider.I completed the MSA/MST course this past weekend and was extremely happy with 1st gear driving school. If you’re a new rider or rider wanting to get back onto the road, 1st gear should be your #1 choice. Thank you so much!!!

My son and I took this training and can attest to the value. If you are planning on hitting the streets with a motorcycle of any size under you you owe it to yourself and your loved ones to tough this course out. Not only do we feel prepared to hop on bikes, but we are much more aware of all of the unique threats that motorcyclists face. Get ready for some tough love, but know that these pressures you face in the training mirrors life on two wheels in traffic and when your degree of focus and calm could make a life or death difference, it’s well worth pushing you out of your comfort zone to develop a thicker skin.

What a great experience. Thank you to Adam, Keifer, and Ted. You taught be life skills for motorcycle riding but also made it fun with your jokes-and humour and we’re serious when you needed to be. I highly recommend 1st Gear Motorcycle.

Cannot say enough positive things.The instructors Mel, Patrick,Adrian, and Lee were professional, clear and direct, gave a lot of constructive criticism and encouragement. I felt comfortable the entire time.Their facility is great with ample space to learn and practice, felt safe the entire time and they provided us with many types of motorcycles.I would say if you're looking for a professional riding course + MST exam you should register with 1st Gear. 10 out of 10 recommend it!Thank you 1st Gear.

Thanks to mel and uncle Ted for giving me the skills to confidently ride my motorcycle and pass my msa/MST test on the first try. Taking the full course is highly recommended it will help you become a better rider even if you have some experience riding .Great course guys thank you very much for your helpPs. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who has none or little riding experience. I came in as an older person with no riding experience and was able to pass my MST on the first try. I still have a ways to go to be comfortable on the road but this course was paramount for learning the basics of how to ride, and more importantly what not to do as a new rider.The online portion was very well laid out in an efficient online video tutorial and skills test course with Lee conducting, he is very well spoken, calm, and knowledgeable. I kinda wish i had him as a riding instructor too because of all the videos i’ve seen him do.The classroom portion was also informative for how to buy a bike and what the basics of road safety are. Lionel was our instructor and speaks fast but effectively.The parking lot riding sessions were vital for learning to ride, the do’s and don’ts. I opted for a cruiser, but there were alot of options for you to choose from. The obstacles from beginning to end were great and allowed us to learn to ride, signal, brake, turn, checks etc. I had Mel and Ted as instructors. Mel is very calm, nice and supportive as an instructor. Ted is vastly knowledgeable, experienced and precise as an instructor. He does yell a lot but it’s obviously in a supportive way to make you a better rider and not build bad habits. As a team i would 100% recommend 1st gear as a must for riders wanting to learn to ride. I cant wait to keep practicing and eventually pass my road test in the near future.

Great experience. Great class great instructors. Extremely supportive. Lee and Todd great instructors, never talk down on anyone. Special shout out to Noah for taking time to give me 1-on-1 time to get me out of my head when I was doing the MST practice runs and not piecing it together. Looking forward to my Road Rides as part of the Dedicated Rider package.

Highly recommended, from learning all the safety precautions to passing MSA within a week. Great friendly instructors and clear communication. 5 stars
