Hamilton Public Library - Red Hill Branch

This is a great little library but there is a really awful mothball-like smell. Unpleasant so I just grab my books and get out!

One of the great experiences on 5.6.23 evening 7.20 p.m. The lady on counter , welcomed , cooperated and guided me for my computer work. She helped in getting copies printed. I really appreciate and thank again the concerned Madam for her help. Polite behavior. Thanks again a lot. PRAKASH JANI

Could use a better water fountain, but everything else is great! Staff is lovely, my toddler loves spending time there

A typical Hamilton library setup. Has quiet zone, media lab (description photo attached), internet workstations, and few comfortable armchairs (about 4 or 6 only). A bit smaller than other locations (Turner Park one is a bigger one), yet still large enough. Also Turner Park branch feels newer or better maintained than this branch. This one is clean but you can see and feel the wear and tear impression. On a side note, the plazza across the street has McDonald's, Tim Horton's, Scotiabank, Freshco, Canadian Tire and Dollarama where all can be handy at times.

Nice staff ( probably the shining grace ), good selection of books, and seating areas. However, I find this library to be quiet loud the few times I’ve visited. I also wish there was a bit more regulation, was just there and a man with no shoes or a shirt came in and began blasting videos off his phone in the computer lab area. I’ve had a few other instances with loud peers there in the past, and sadly staff doesn’t do much to assist in dealing with the less then savoury library goers, especially those who display little respect for the space. I would recommend this location for a brief visit or to check out some books, but I would NOT recommend this library for studying or quiet time. To small and cramped for any true relaxation. The timmies across the street more useable for studying :)

I like coming here to study, but there's a really bad issue with the smell these days. It's pretty bad sometimes and I can't sit through it. Please fix this, maybe put out some gentle air fresheners. Thank you.

Very friendly and informative staff. They also offer study hall from 8pm-midnight.

The Red Hill location apart from Central, is my favourite branch in the city. Well laid out, with a sizeable collection of both factual and fictional books. A good assortment of dvds, games (for various systems) and resource rooms and desks.Honestly, this is one of the best spots in the city to study or spend some time relaxing and enjoying a book or getting resources to help with whatever you need. Staff is super friendly and the new COVID19 regulations are easy to follow and help to make the experience a little more pleasant.

Been going here for 20 years now and it's great. I do wish there was a big long table some place with plugs for laptops. There are individual spaces for laptops but when you sit next to someone it feels like intruding. Also would be great if they could open Sundays again, preferably until 7 pm instead of just 5
