IBEW 213

Joined as a mid term apprentice and was hugely disappointed. Office admins at the hall and EJTC treat you like you're below them in some caste system and have a hard on for the contractors vs the actual workers. Hourly pay doesn't even match a large amount of non union competitors even before the insane amount of dues are deducted. On top of it they expect an extra year out of your apprenticeship claiming it being due to them offering such a wide range of opportunities and systems to learn but will stick you doing labourer work not even touching actual electrical and pigeon holing apprentices completely ignoring their inside wiremen's agreement when it comes to apprentice/journeyman ratios. They may be better than some fly by night, bottom of the barrel companies but there's definitely better opportunities to grow in trade and make a living the lower mainland.

Ok...The bad experience is an experience too. I joined them in 2022 full of hopes and trust in them...But they let me down...Yes, big projects, variety of jobs, benefits and all sounds so great, but when you actually become a part of the system, you start seeing things differently.I am was apprentice, and I was sent to the most undesirable jobs ever, whereas my fellow electrical workers of the same level were out there in the field and doing some awesome works. The dispatch system broke my heart.Unreasonable deductions from every paycheck , and socialism/commie attitude towards everyone.I still don't understand what is so special about joining the union.

Worst Local EVER NOTE ALL THE 5 STAR RATINGS HAVE LITTLE TO NO COMMENTS...MMMM THATS NOT A RED FLAG AT ALL!##Absolutly one of the most awful places to try and get more information...and consider joining...I call several times over the past 3 dat I'm a TQ low voltage electrician and was interested in joining...they only have 1 dispatch Mandeep and I could not get a straight answer from him.... So I called back with details on the job but now I couldn't reach him... After countless attempts...you would think they would have an organizer to help someone new to that local...I could understand 1 or 2 time even 3 but the dispatch ducks out at 230pm and there is Absolutly no one there that has any clue of prevailing wages even dispatch didn't know exactly... Real frustrating looking for work is hard enough without people hanging up on you! On a further note after being hung up on because the initial lady that answered was real smart and didn't really provide any help.... I called her on it and she's the one that hung up.... Mandeep then tried to confront me about it....SHE HUNG UP ON ME MAN AND I DONT HAVE TO EXPLAIN TO YOU ANYHOW....after that he told me if I don't leave a message during business hours then I won't get help...the guy was Absolutly useless couldnt even find the add on indeed which was clearly posted 16 days ago... After all this because I'm a member of local 46 in Kent and its Canada I thought I was concidered a newbie but I'm not to IBEW bc im a local 46 member!!! Err there suppose to be your brother...so why don't they act like it!

Such lovely people, just came for the union meeting night. It was short, sweet and informative regarding current events that affect my life related to my career. Meeting a few new people always a lot of fun.

Given the fact that they can hardly respond to emails in a proper time frame and they don’t do much for you.. they sure do take a lot of its members money.

I been living in Alberta for 7 years. So the 213 pension is not a viable option. I called the pension plan office to get transfer paperwork to transfer my pension to something more economical, local and viable... so they told me to email them and I did.. so 2 weeks later I called them back to ask where the paperwork is. They told me they have a full 60 days to send it
