IKEA Edmonton - Restaurant

Hadn't been to IKEA in years but my son was craving the meatballs a couple of days after his wisdom teeth removal. The line was long and food was just okay. Service was relatively fast and even though the seating area looked packed, it wasn't very hard to find a table. We had the meatball dinner, plantball dinner, cheesecake, fries, and mushroom soup... I guess it is alright for the price but I don't plan on going back soon.

The South Common IKEA restaurant has recently and unfortunately become quite disappointing. Ordered the Salmon vegetable medley, the salmon had fat congealed around the edges - I presume not warmed up properly and there was no vegetable medley despite the name and pictures, all that was available was peas. The staff were friendly enough, but clearly the management has stopped caring about providing good food at a good price. Used to be a favourite breakfast stop, but with the recent quality downgrade, I think I'll stop elsewhere for breakfast too.

Great selection of furniture and home items in general. There's a drop-off play area for the younger children included if need be. But honestly the kids always have a decent enough time just walking around the giant maze they have set up. Prices are affordable and some of the cheapest hotdogs / ice cream money can buy at the end of your trip.

I have never been a big Ikea person, in fact when they first opened in South Edmonton my sister took me and upon seeing 8+? return counters I was like man how garbage is their stuff that they got that many returns at once? So I never went back.However, a year ago I was working from home and needed to get a new desk.  I was unable to find a furniture store that offered a large desk that could easily fit 3 monitors and 2 keyboards+mice.I ended up at Ikea and I they had a very large desk which also was height adjustable, it was like $800 which I have to say was a little much, however given the time constraints and that it was there in stock, I went with it.The desk itself is nice looking, not the material quality you would expect when you say $800 desk, it’s a nice black and it is motorized height adjustable, so that’s a pretty good plus.One of my fears with a new desk is getting something that’s not at the right height for keyboard and mouse and being uncomfortable. So, a height adjustable desk removes that fear.After buying this desk I found that the weight limit it has is very low compared to other adjustable desks of the same price range or even cheaper, so I have to say that is disappointing and a serious knock against Ikea.Also, the desk after I assembled it, I saw it has a tiny little chip and since it’s a black surface its very visible. However, having the entire thing assembled and in place, I’m not going to pack it up and return it, it’s just something I must live with.Though again disappointing quality wise.Recently I was at Ikea to pick up one of their PC tower stands which I had wanted when I bought the desk from there but it wasn’t in stock. I went into Ikea a week ago and they had it in so I bought one.On my way out I stopped into the Ikea restaurant and decided to have dinner there. This was my first time having a meal there and I went with their meatball meal with a side of mac and cheese and a juice to drink.Total price for this was only $13.09, which was a fair deal, value wise I would say my only issue is the side of Mac and Cheese even though it was only $2 was a little disappointing, I would prefer they jump to $2.50 and add in more.Though again maybe that’s just my view because I lived in America for a year and the obesity rubbed off on me.The meatballs were very nice, tasty and 8 pieces, the scoop of mashed potatoes also good and the side of peas were peas, so a nice enjoyable meal.They gave some of their linden berry jam? on the side and I’ve never had that before and it was really good with the meatballs. As for the Mac and Cheese? It was okay, I think id rather get their 4 additional meat balls for 2.50 and skip the carbs.I like Ikea’s vanilla scented candles so I will go there just to walk through the store and buy them, I can see myself stopping in for a meal also in the future as the food was good.

It was busy, not many people noticed that both line were open and most of them stuck to right side. Swedish meatballs were good and the fountain drinks are better, more sweet and not watered down. Ikea did a great job making sure the tables and area were clean.

It was busy maybe because Sunday. But service is perfect. The staff professionally told about all the dishes, and explained everything very nicely.Special thanks for the meatballs! This is Delicacy!

Most of their wooden items feature specialty veneers over particle board. Their comfort items feature comfort materials like memory and poly-foam. While most customers like their IKEA furniture at first, there are some complaints about long term durability. You do get what you pay for. Having said that...That is a large parking lot, and inside you go around like your a mouse in a maze. There is a good selection, but right now there might be some things not available. You can still get a hotdog for a loonie...
