Elmwood Design Centre

We were excited to work with Andrew at Elmwood Design Centre to purchase our new Beaver Home package. This is not our first experience purchasing a Beaver Home package through Home Hardware, but it will certainly be our last. As is allowed with the package, we worked with Andrew and provided a specific drawing as to our desired changes. Andrew promised us he would trace our drawing and get them submitted immediately and told us we could have renderings within the week. After a week passed we reached out to Andrew. We were told Andrew had misunderstood and had not done anything he had promised. We chalked it up to a misunderstanding and moved forward with the next steps, allowing Andrew time to mark up our original changes, then attending their location to sign a contract and put down a $5,000 deposit, all as outlined by Andrew. When we arrived to sign the contract (a legal binding document) many of the original drawing changes were incorrect or missing entirely. We contacted Andrew and he adjusted his drawings and sent us the markup, that was closer, but still incorrect. We we assured by Andrew that, contrary to the contract we were given to sign which indicated we had a maximum of 2 corrections, it didn’t matter and we could make as many corrections as we like. We asked for the contract to be adjusted to reflect Andrews verbal promise. Andrew again assured us that with our $5,000 deposit, he would move forward and immediately submit our changes so we could finally receive our plans and move forward with building permits. Andrew promised to forward the corrected contact for us to sign via Docu Sign. The contract never arrived. Instead, a little over a week goes by and we are contacting by Andrew informing us they will allow us 3 extra changes and would we like to move forward with submitting our changes? We had all of our sub-contractors lined up and every week and a half we’re being bumped as we can’t seem to get plans submitted. We called again today to see if we could work with someone else and now they’re too busy to fit us in. If you want to build a home, save yourself the hassle and go to a location who delivers what they promise or at the very least deal with someone with enough integrity to reach out immediately if they’ve made an error.
