I was super excited when I heard about this restaurant and that they serve oxtail so I went for lunch today and am left feeling disappointed and a little insulted. The lady at the counter was lovely and very helpful however the gentleman who appeared to be the chef seemed impatient with the 2 questions I asked. I love West Indian food however it is impossible to buy oxtail in Newfoundland where a butcher will cut the bone to expose the marrow giving the dish it’s unique flavour so I asked if the bones were cut. He tried to explain to me that it’s impossible to cut the bones, only the joints and when I explained what I meant he became abrupt and defensive. I asked the lady at the counter where the patties were from and she said Toronto and went to check with the chef for the brand name, he cut her off 3 times saying “here” so I specifically asked him if he made the pastry and he cut me off with “Yup” and “Here” before leaving again. He seemed very upset with me and I wonder if the meal was prepared for me in spite. I could taste burnt in the meat and wonder if he scraped the bottom of the burnt pot to fill the container he sent out. I found a loonie size chunk of black burnt in the meal and have NEVER experienced anything like this before. I swear I was polite and just asking a couple simple questions! I won’t be back! I hope I can attach pictures to this! Oh, I really doubt that he made those patties either even though he said they were made onsite.

Unreal food. Jerk Chicken is my go to but I also really enjoy their Patti Sandwich. Their Jerk dishes are a bit spicy so if you're the kind of person who can only eat the mildest of sauces you should stick to one of the Patties. They also have quite literally the single greatest coleslaw I've ever tasted.

Don't let the down to Earth Decor or the fact your in Newfoundland fool you...!! Top notch Carribean Food....No Complaints!!Don't forget, it's Home made authentic Jamaican... So worth the wait for it!!Even accommodated my low carb diet with Jerk Tofu, steamed vegetables and I couldn't resist eating some of the homeade Dumpling covered in jerk & hot sauce ....Jerk or Curry..... The Curry chicken Roti is enough for two meals!! The coleslaw is to die for!! I was toldThe oxtail was best ever!!Can't say enough good things, IF YOU LIKE authentic Carribean good, DINT MISS this place!!

Best place to eat at on a late night. We played chess while eating oxtail, the atmosphere is fantastic and the crew is even better. Thanks for a wonderful night!

A taste of the Caribbean in downtown St. John's. Steps away from George Street. The chicken curry in roti was delicious and large portioned. The beef patties, the best I've had outside of the Caribbean. Friendly staff and owners

I've ordered the Jerk Chicken Sandwich Combo with Jamaican Beef Patty and a GRACE Pineapple Cola, the patty was delicious!, the pineapple cola is better than CRUSH by far, and the Jerk Chicken sandwich was Amazing, however i do have to give the restaurant a 4/5 due to the chicken having not been separated properly. several bites included hard chicken cartilage, and that's just not acceptable in a sandwich you expect to be able to eat quickly.

I must say I'm pretty impressed. I'm from Toronto so I'm very well cursed with Caribbean restaurants. I had the oxtail dinner and I very sure it's the largest portion of oxtail I've ever gotten my life. The rice and the beans and the coleslaw were all fabulous and he also had a side order of jerk chicken and that was also great. I give it the Jamaican thumbs up!

I love Sunny Day Carribean for so many reasons. But one of them being this... That they value their customers. And this one time when I was ordering my favorite Jerk Chicken from them.. I opted for cutlery, without knowing they don't have plastics (which is a very good trait) they called me and let me know about it. When I mentioned in the call that the last time I received the jerk chicken was a bit more done than usual , they made sure they treat me right and send me an amazing platter to let me know how much they appreciate loyal customers.Thank you ❤️
