Furry Friends Spa and Daycare

I brought my extremely fair-tempered cat in to get the full service (shampoo, deshedding), including trimming his nails. When I got home, my cat had bloody paws and upon closer inspection he had at least 3 nails that were left bloody and sore (see attached photos). He is very easy going and trusting so to see him treated this way was very upsetting for us. He’s been trimmed twice before by 1 other groomer in Ottawa and was never returned to us like this. When we spoke to the owner on the phone, she blamed the injuries on our cat and said he must have done them to himself. We said we would have liked to have been warned that this happened but she said she “did not notice”. This is not normal after a grooming appointment. We will not be returning.

This shop does great work! My Samoyed Mika was in good spirits when she left and she looks great! Thanks for the help. Will be returning.

We have been bringing our golden doodle puppy to Furry Friends for her grooming since she was 3 months old and cannot recommend them enough. Their puppy groom package was the perfect way to get our pup comfortable with being groomed. She is always so excited to go to the shop and loves being around the staff, and they have always done a wonderful job caring for her. My partner and I always remark on how great she looks after her appointment. Chantal and her staff have always been so professional and accommodating. You can really tell how much they love the animals they work with. Furry Friends is definitely worth checking out.

Chantal is amazing. She groomed our grumpy 14-year-old cat with so much care and attention. Would definitely go back and recommend!

While my experience definitely wasn't a horror story, it aligns closer with the 1 star experiences than it does the 5 star ones. Furry Friends seems to make mistakes that could be remedied by not rushing themselves so much. It also seems debatable as to whether they're trying to do too much at once within the small space they have. This seems to be a theme in their negative reviews going back *years*. I can easily understand how all this could be stressful to both already anxious animals and those who are normally laid back. Regardless of whether the stress is felt, that all certainly affects the results of their grooms and communication. Though the staff tries to be accommodating, I sadly cannot recommend the experience they provide.EDIT: Dear Owner, hearing you loud and clear. I'm not expecting perfection, I'm expecting effort to understand instead of 'hoping' to understand. I have been bringing my cat here for years and Chantal always does an incredible job. My vet has even asked where the cat was groomed because she was amazed by how perfect his lion cut was. I recently brought my dog for grooming as well and am so grateful I did - it’s such a relief not to have so much shedding. Thank you Chantal and team for your wonderful work, it makes a big difference.

We decided to try this groomer as we recently moved to Ottawa. The haircut was fine however when we picked our dog up the groomer (Krista) mentioned that we may notice our dog twitching her leg as she skimmed her back paw pad and to ignore it. She said she added a second skin layer to treat it. She said it just scraped and wasn’t bleeding. When we asked why they charged us $100 for the groom (starting prices are listed at $70 for small dogs) they said they are in the process of raising their prices and our dog is considered medium (our dog is 13 pounds).On our way home we noticed the paw was in fact bleeding and cut. When we went back to complain the groomer said “accidents happen”. We understand accidents happen however the accident was downplayed, the groomer did not take any accountability, and judging from previous google reviews, these accidents seem to be ongoing without any action being taken to prevent them moving forward.Our dog is well tempered and we have never had any issues at other groomers. Would not recommend this groomer as they are untrustworthy.

We've been taking our dogs for grooming to Chantal and her team for 11+ years. They always went at the same time, were kept together, and looked great afterwards. We lost our Spaniel last year, and were concerned how our (Border) Terrier would do on her own, but Chantal has been very understanding and accommodated us ever since by taking her either early morning or end of day.  Took her today and once again she looks just fabulous :)Chantal is a wonderful groomer and we'd definitely recommend. Two paws up!
