Nonna's Cucina 'Italian Street Food'

Nonna's Cucina is a small Italian takeout restaurant located on East Hastings in Vancouver. The restaurant offers many delicious dishes. My wife brought me to this gem for dine-in tonight. My wife ordered the rigatoni and I had pappardelle. The pasta was cooked to perfection al dente, and the sauce complemented the dishes perfectly. The portion sizes were just right, and the quality of the food was exceptional, rivalling many fine dining restaurants. To top off the meal, Rob brought us a Cannoli dessert, a perfect finish for our dinner, not overly sweet. Overall, Nonna's Cucina is a gem of a restaurant that offers fantastic food and great service. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a delicious Italian meal in Vancouver.

Very awesome pasta spot! It looks a bit of a hole in the wall (not dingy or anything, but very small and a little disorganized at the time that I visited - might not always be that way), but the pasta rivals much fancier Italian restaurants, not just in taste but also in presentation! I got the ricotta herb gnocchi and with just one bite I realized that I hadn't tried really good gnocchi up to this point. The gnocchi were so soft and almost melted in my mouth as I ate. Served in a delicious pesto cream sauce with sauteed vegetables. I especially liked the fennel. This dish left me feeling satiated but not heavy - it was a perfect portion size and also made right. I am not exaggerating when I say that I could've gone to a high-end Italian restaurant and been served the gnocchi exactly as it was and left very happy. So $18 for this is kind of a steal even if it's not budget pricing.I had a tiramisu for dessert - I love tiramisu and didn't realize they had it here so was pumped to try it. The dessert cups are prepared in plastic cups designed to be easy to take to go, so the presentation is obviously not as fancy as you get with the pasta, but still delicious! The cream had a great depth of flavour that you don't get with cheap tiramisu - it's the real stuff! This was $5, which is also a great price since it's cheaper than basically any dessert you'll get in a sit-down restaurant and tiramisu in particular can get expensive to make, so you know they're not overcharging.The caring service was another pleasant surprise given the size of the space! I and other customers were greeted very warmly when we entered and sent off graciously when we were leaving, the person who took my order cleared and wiped down the counter for me so I could sit without me saying anything and was really apologetic about the mess in a good-natured way, not the stressed-out food service worker way, though I assured them it was totally fine. And food will be brought to you if you dine in. Everything is made to order so it's not instant, but they prepared my food as quickly as I could reasonably expect it to be put together - I wasn't keeping track but it probably took about 10 minutes, if that. Lovely lovely place and I highly recommend! I'm not in this neighbourhood often but I'll definitely want to come back if I'm nearby again.

My go to place when I want to take a day off from cooking. Love supporting this local Italian gem. Food from this little eatery reminds me of when my mama prepared rustic, homey, but exciting dishes, bursting with flavour. When I think pasta, I think Nonna’s Cucina. There is nothing pretentious about the meals but myyyyyGaaaawd!!…so good. To make things even better, the owner is über warm and welcoming. We recommend this Italian eatery and visit it ourselves often. Delicious!

Both pasta dishes were really good! Tried their pappardelle (added shrimp) and rigatoni. The only downside was that there's not too many tables available for dine in. Maybe it'll be better when it's warmer out, to use their seating outside.

We were looking for a place to grab a bite when passing through Vancouver and couldn’t have found a better place. It was fast, delicious af, and the service was outstanding.The owner was so friendly from the moment we stepped in, and it was clear how much passion and effort he puts into this craft.If you are looking for a casual place to grab amazing pasta don’t look further because you won’t be disappointed!

So glad I found this place. As soon as I walked in the smell of their amazing cooking hit my nose, my tummy grumbled and I knew I would be ordering a couple things.Team there greeted me right away, and gave me some recommendations to try. The service was great, and they were very friendly.Now to my food- my mouth was drooling with each bit. The flavour combinations were amazing, and the ingredients were fresh.My panini was a bit more toasted than I liked, but I should have mentioned a light toast.I also ordered their gnocchi, ate it before I could get a picture. That was delicious.My new favourite spot, I will be returning for them to feed me often.

Staff are very kind and welcoming, and the food was awesome! You can tell a lot of care went into the preparation of the food. The pastas and meatballs were absolutely superb! Made up my mind last minute to get a tiramisu and absolutely glad that I did. I will be thinking about that tiramisu for a very long time. Just superb!

After a very rough couple of weeks, I was in dire need of some much-needed comfort food. By a sheer stroke of dumb luck, I happened to stumble upon such greatness and trekked across the city to give them a shot.At first glance, you wonder how a small space such as this can greet you with the most heavenly smells and produce award-winning food. However, all you have to do is go to the counter and be greeted like a regular, even though this is your first time here.Upon ordering, the anticipation sets in, and after the first bite, you know you’ve met greatness. As not only is this the best meal I have ever had in the city but it is also reasonably priced and made with love.I’d love to keep this place a secret and all to myself, but if you ever find yourself in the neighborhood and in need of the best meal you will ever have in your life, look no further!

Blasted into heaven with this gnocchi. Such a unique sauce. The combination of fennel and pistachio is so creative, magical, and perfect. The service is also wonderful; it’s a small space but they set up a table for me and also for two ladies who came after me. I was also generously given a beautiful cannoli to take home, on the house. I haven’t had it yet because I want the flavours of the gnocchi to live in my mouth for a little while longer first. But I’m sure it’ll be delicious. Thank you so much, I will be back soon!
