Alpha D Hair Salon Richmond

I am giving 2 stars today, not 1, because I am averaging out my experience at Alpha D Richmond. For the past 2+ years, I’ve been getting my haircut from Sho and he was literally the best. 5/5 for Sho. Unfortunately, he is no longer with the salon, so I had to try someone new.My review is specifically for my last experience with Saki. I’ve never been to her before but I assumed going to someone new for a trim wouldn’t be a big deal. I simply wanted approximately 3 inches off and explained I wanted to keep/continue with layers. During the haircut, I already knew it was going to be shorter than I wanted. I am honestly not picky with my haircuts so I didn’t say a anything. In the end, she ended up cutting 5 inches off my hair. Again, this wasn’t a huge deal… while a little annoying to have shorter hair in the winter, I usually do this in the summer, so I wasn’t too bother.However, fast forward to now, after I washed my hair at home…. I can see how TERRIBLE the actual haircut is. My layers literally looks like someone cut a straight line across it. It doesn’t blend at all. I tried putting some hair oil on it to make it sleeker, but the blunt layer cut is so obvious. I’ve never had such a terrible haircut before. I don’t even want to go in to fix it cuz it’s already so much shorter than I wanted it to be.I felt like my ask was quite simple…yet the end result was atrocious. This is enough for me to not go back.

Eco is great at what she does! I haven’t had satisfactory experience with salon stylist for quite a while and she definitely exceed my expectation I am super happy with her skill and the service I received. Strongly recommended!!!

It was my first time to visit Alpha D today, and I was so impressed their job. Saki who is the person in charge of cutting and coloring my hair did nice job for me and also she is very kind and polite. She gave me some tips for setting my hair as well. I love my hair color that she recommended me. Im so satisfied and definitely come back again!! Thank you Saki san!!

*Update*After the review, the manager reached out and informed me the stylist mentioned in my review no longer works at the salon. He generously offered me a touch up. Even though I didn’t eventually get my hair redone due to the amount of time required, I appreciate the quick communication and apology. I’ll likely return to this salon for future perms and would still recommend this place as there are many talented stylists who work there! :)Went to the location in downtown years ago and had the most beautiful perm so decided to try the Richmond location out. The first time I visited the Richmond location was a few months ago for hair colouring and the stylist did quite a beautiful job. Went back a week and a half ago for a digital perm with the same stylist and the whole experience was a major disappointment. This same stylist was grumpy throughout the entire procedure, didn’t seem to care at all. Halfway through I could feel pain from extreme heat on my neck and he had to fix it because the tool was burning my scalp. At the end of the perm it was evident he missed 2 major strands at the front (they were completely straight with no perm). I informed him right away and he just flipped it to the back of my head to “fix it”. I’m now two weeks in and my hair is pretty much straight again. What a complete waste of my time.

Unfortunately, I would agree with everything Jacki L has written. Saki is nice, but her cutting style damaged my hair. After the haircut, I can't even run my hands through my hair without catching on it. The layers don't blend in well and the layers are around my face, not at the back so it's not even. Frankly, I don't know what is going on with this haircut. It poofy but heavy at the same time. The technique wasn't what I was expecting from a Japanese salon. I had called to get my hair recut, but cancelled because I can't imagine her doing a better job.Originally, I wasn't going to leave a review because she was pleasant to work with. We went through several photos of what I was looking for before she cut my hair so there shouldn't have been any miscommunication. However, whenever I have to look at myself in the mirror, I absolutely HATE my hair.

Arata is my regular stylist. The ambience is good and style options are abundant. He checks with me before applicaPuttu, Idiyappam,tion of any chemicals, creams and ensures I am comfortable and okay with it. Price is also at a very affordable range.The only thing here is that we need to book our appointment in advance with our stylist.

I experienced a nightmare haircut from Saki at alpha D salon on June 20, 2023. I explained I want a natural look and more layer on my haircut. I also showed her a model picture as well as my own photo of haircut style. she immediately using 2 different electric clippers across my head. she finishing the whole style within 15 minutes . Saki really did an awful job and completely botched up my hair. moreover when I expressed I don’t like her haircut with electric clippers, and couldn’t develop more layer in such short hair. She threw her temper when I washed my hair, scrubbed my scalp hardly. It was a shame of Japanese hair salon which had well reputation .

I had a really great experience here! Karin was very good at analyzing my hair and was able to make recommendations on how to shape it in order to frame my face better! She was also very friendly and was very nice to chat with. Very happy with my haircut!
