Creating Alternatives

My son has been a participant in this outstanding program for many years after leaving high school. He has been so well taken care of and learned so many life skills that he is a very active and confident member in the community and society. He looks forward to the daily routine of learning, meeting his many friends there, having lunches and his great outings including their annual charity golf classic, Scotiabank run and other charity fundraisers. The program offers literacy, life skills, exercise, outreach to the community and so much more. I was incredibly impressed, in particular, how they took control of the program virtually during Covid. It was run as a full program, never breaking routine and my son learned how to use the i-pad, structure his personal schedule and fully participate every day in his zooms as they continued to engage socially at this isolated time. He doesn't read, speak clearly or write so this was a major milestone - all thanks to the hardworking and devoted staff who continually demonstrate incredible, caring and unwavering compassion. Highly recommend any parent with a child with special needs make this your first step to enhancing your child's life. There will be no need to look any further. Our daughter attends the program at Creating Alternatives. They have an amazing staff working there and leadership is on top of everything for bringing the best out of all participants. We are lucky to have them as a daily part of our daughters life.When you see a smile on your kids face while going to the program everyday, says a lot of things. We wish Creating Alternative's the very best for future and thank you for running an awesome program.

Alternatives has been part of our lives for many many years. The care and love and sense of family that they have provided my older sister has been exceptional. We truly do not have enough words to express our gratitude towards Creating Alternatives. All of the participants are welcomed with open arms and the programs are tailored to help them grow in various ways. Thank you for all you do !

My brother is so happy to have a place to interact with others, develop friendships, and continue to explore and learn about the world around him. The staff is so patient and kind, and I know he truly feels loved by all of them.

Creating Alternatives is a wonderful place for people with disabilities. It is like a second family to me. The staff are very kind and caring about each participant. I have also learned so many new skills. For example, I have learned how to do grocery shopping and to scan items at the self-checkout. I've also made lots of wonderful friends at Creating Alternatives. I look forward to attending every day that I go.

This program has been a boon for my son, who has autism. The staff is dedicated, caring and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

The Creating Alternatives staff is such a caring bunch. Our family member feels at home during day programs. Everyone is involved in the programming and success. We love the daily notes. It gives us discussion starters when she gets home, to recap the day. The Lou Fruitman Center has been an added bonus for transition planning for our family member. Staff is just a call away to review or discuss upcoming events, life happenings, family updates or progress. We are so thankful for the support our family receives from the Creating Alternatives staff.

Our adult son attends Creating Alternatives weekly. He has benefitted from the diverse programming which provides a mixture of life skills and engaging activities. The program also provides social opportunities which has enabled our son to meet and interact with some good friends. We very highly recommend Creating Alternatives as a program for adults with Special Needs.
