The Crusty Baker

Half the garlic bread was gone before I had time to snap a photo!! Absolutely delicious and so buttery. Such a positive first experience at the crusty baker. I’m not typically in the area but it smelt amazing in passing so I had to check it out. The girl working was so friendly and warm, she helped me pick out what I wanted to try. I also grabbed a toffee cookie, sooo soft. I’ll definitely be back soon!!

We were looking for a place to meet for lunch and one suggested The Crusty Baker in Kemptville, south of Ottawa, Ontario. Good idea!This place is tiny, but full of good folks, great smells and wonderful food.The menu is on a chalkboard and not memorized because it changes. Soups and sandwiches are unique and served on their house-made breads. We chose the chili, full bodied and flavorful, spiced but not 'hot' and served with it's own loaf of crusty bread. Also, the Italian Job, a sandwich with Genoa sausage, and one other sandwich which used Wilton cheese and ham, both delish!Dessert is the main event here, deep and rich butter tarts in several flavors, echenfunkle (try it for yourself), mincemeat tarts, scones in many flavors (like 'Christmas Tree' with flavors of pine nuts and spruce) cookies, cinnamon pinwheels, and pies sold by the whole pie, either savory or sweet.Check out the freezer - we did and took home a rabbit pot pie and a duck confit pot pie to remember the Crusty Baker by.Thoughtful people, nice service, handicap accessible washroom, and an ever changing stream of customers leaving with bread loaves, pies and sweets. We came late to the feast - Kemptville knows!

Their food is so wonderful if I bought everything there I wanted to, I'd be a very happy 600 pounder! Meat pies are my favourite.

Just bought some buttermilk bread from the stall at the Kanata farmers market. It was already bagged. Didn't notice til I got the bread home that it was completely burned. Had to cut off the whole top crust but the rest tasted okay.

We had a large catering order and John was absolutely fantastic in getting this arranged for us. We absolutely loved the sandwiches the bread was an absolute star! Highly recommend the potato cheese scone! They were gone in a flash! Thank you John so much for your help getting this organized and delivering absolutely delicious food.

The Crusty Baker is the best! This is the best bakery I've encountered - healthy ingredients, excellent quality, reasonable prices and baked with care. I look forward to every opportunity I get to sample their baked goods and love the seasonal special products that they make. Keep up the good work!

Delicious baked goods and baguettes. This morning, I got myself a cranberry scone with glaze that was just so wonderful, crunchy outside, nice and moist inside, a little bit of butter and you have perfection right there! The staff is helpful and friendly.

I have never seen cinnamon buns get eaten so fast (by 4 others, so not just me). Absolutely 100 percent sticky delight. The rum and something cupcakes were a hit as well.Highly worth the stop.

I just went in, I was really hungry. The girl was too busy to look up and acknowledge a customer and the gentleman (baker?) wasn't interested in selling me food either so I just left... Not sure why they wouldn't serve/acknowledge my presence - not willing to find out, others are willing to accept my money.

Amazing local Bakery in downtown Kemptville, specializing in baked good obviously but they also do lunch sandwiches, quiches, pies and now recently dinner items like English curries.Highly recommended
