My wife fell and broke her elbow on Christmas evening December 25th, 2022. At the time there were no specialists on shift at the Brampton Civic Hospital and she was referred to come back on Dec 30th to see Dr. Hockmann. He reviewed her CT Scan but unfortunately didn't have any operation space available until the 10th of January. He said he could give us referrals, but we were concerned about the time it would take to then have a consult with someone else. With this in mind we asked him to book her surgery for Jan 10th, which he did. That evening we received a phone call from another surgeon at Etobicoke Hospital who said that Dr Hockmann had reached out to her and that in fact she had operatory time available the next morning December 31st. The operation was done with success and my wife was able to come home on New Years day, nine days ahead of when Dr. Hockmann would have been able to do the surgery. Now my point of this review is how Dr. Hockmann realizing how bad the break was, took the time to make calls and reach out to another doctor who could fit it into their available schedule. We were so surprised to get that phone call and so thankful to Dr. Hockmann for making it happen. So although I can't comment on his surgical skills I certainly can say what a genuinely great person he is and I would highly recommend him. How many doctors today would take the time to go out of their way in this type of situation.

My name is Lucia and I am a Type 1 Diabetic diagnosed 41 years ago . On October 2, 2009. I had a severe low blood sugar which caused me to fall down the stairs and I broke both arms. I was operated through emergency at Brampton Civic. Since I had both arms in slings I wasn't able to feed, wash take care of myself I was transfered to an old age home Extendicare. While there I had an older man who didn't know how to work his motorized wheelchair and drove into me and I fell backwards. Because I am right handed that was the arm that tried to come out of the sling first to help myself from falling (instincts). The plates and screws came out in my right arm . Brampton Civic gave me 2 options the doctor who operated me first time was filling in for another doctor the day I fell, so he didn't work out of Brampton Civic he worked out of Sunnybrook. They gave me the option of going down to Sunnybrook and I said no to that, so the hospital asked 6 surgeon's and Dr. Hockmann was the only one who said YES I will try . God sends us blessings in disguise and Dr. Hockmann was a blessing to me . The morning I meet him December 9, 2009 he said to me before going in to operate , that he doesn't know how bad it is , x-rays don't show everything and if he will be able to put it back together. He said he will do his best , worst case scenario he will have to amputate. He also told me that sooner or later I was going to need a shoulder replacement. I was 36 at that time and he said i was to young to have a replacement. If i could keep my own for 10 more years that would a better choice. I also had infection prior to the second surgery because the home did not use closed gauze packages. Every box was open on the trolley that the nurses pushed back and forth to every room. I was put on antibiotics through a picline, which gave me kidney failure. Iasked him if I can have 5 minutes to say some prayers. 10 years later , 8 decompression's and December 9, 2019 a partial replacement. Dr. Hockmann is the best he is down to earth, easy to speak too , explains everything and tries to help in anyway he can . I have and will continue to recommend him to everyone and anyone. My scares are not nice looking but that is because of the bad infection I had it turned my skin green during the operation Dr. Hockmann tried to clean it up he is not a plastic surgeon but he is human and understand how I felt . In the summer wearing tank tops when you look at me the scar is all people see. It use to make me feel uncomfortable but Dr. Hockmann also made me see that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and I still have my arm. The experience was a bad one and one you don't want anyone to go through but I am grateful that Dr. Hockmann took my case . Ps also grateful he got his new receptionist Marie because calling the office with his first secretary was horrible. People who are calling his office are calling because they are in pain and speaking with her didn't help the situation. They say everything happens for a reason ! To Dr. Hockmann and Marie you guys are the best thank you for being you ❤ and thank you for 11 years of knowing you .

My wife suffered a severe elbow fracture and dislocation earlier this year, while on vacation in the US. The initial surgery was done in the US, but a follow-up surgery(for removing the hardware) was required upon our return home to Canada. From our very first visit with Dr. Hockmann, we felt that we were in the care of an exceptional doctor - he was so kind , patient and gave us undivided attention and took the time to understand our history and the details of the initial surgery. Above all, he gave us courage and the confidence that my wife would be able to get through this uncertain and difficult time in our lives. The follow-up surgery was performed in the most skillful manner, and today, my wife is on her way to a full recovery. We are so thankful for Dr. Hockmann's wonderful care. We will never forget his compassion and everything he has done for us. We are immensely blessed to have doctors such as Dr. Hockmann in Brampton.

Doctor Hockman was a gentleman when I met him last week. I have waited since October 2021 for an appointment. The waiting list is extremely extensive due to the lack of specialists assigned to the Brampton area. This is a governmental problem .Doctor Hockman was very knowledgeable and provided important information about my condition. I am thankful for his throughout all examination and feedback. Thanks again.I hope that my condition improves by seeing sports medicine specialists and recovering from the soft tissue injuries that I have.
