A visit to Topsy has been a highlight of 2022. I adopted a lamb and got to name her - Picot, clearly I’m a knitter. The yarn is wonderful. And so are the coos. Topsy is a farm worth preserving.

A great website and wonderful Instagram posts led me to explore this family farm business….a cooperative farm where sheep are raised with care. wonderful yarn and also family visit experiences are offered as well. My yarn order was processed quickly and attractively presented. I love my yarn….minimally processed woolen spun yarn in natural sheep colours.

Such a magical place, Amherst island. So quiet, friendly, close to nature and agriculture. Wonderful place to spend a weekend cycling on the island visiting topsy farms, maybe helping out on a sheep drive and picking up some blankets. The blankets. Initially I thought they were too scratchy and warm. But they are so soft and actually breathable. They keep you warm when you need them, but help cool when you are too hot.

We’ve had a few farm visits during lambing season and every time it’s been lovely. (Baby lambs are an immediate mood lifter!) Highly recommend a lamb visit- bring a picnic and plan for some time for kids to play in the play area.

We visited the farm for spring lamb cuddling/feeding. This is the second year we have visited the lambs and both visits were delightful. The volunteer who facilitated this year's visit was knowledgeable and friendly. We also enjoyed getting to speak with the shepherd briefly. I would highly recommend visiting the farm for a different and fun experience with your family or friends.

Ian and Sally are wonderful hosts! We spent the morning cuddling and bottle feeding lambs, wondering through their gardens, shopping and more. The store has many high quality wool items from king blankets, pillows, mitts and so much more. The farm is a working farm so wear boots and please make sure you haven't been to another farm within 2 weeks so decease and infection does not occur. Be prepared to be tempted in their shop, they have great items for sale. Not cheap but very worth it and high quality. The lambs are rescue and they are absolutely darling. To actually go into a pen with them and have them jump all over you is magical! They have 2 highland cows, hens, sheep dogs, gardens, places where children can swing and climb and even a Yurt where you can stay overnight! Book online if you want to be sure to get the whole experience!

A great place to visit for the whole family - even the teenagers engage and have fun! The most lovely people, fun and interesting events, gorgeous wool and wool products, Sally's incredible garden, and the best honey you'll ever taste. All that and adorable and hilarious lambs. Topsy is a treasure. (TIP: if you do the Forest Bathing or Kayaking with Kristin, be sure to get the post-event snack box, delicious!)

This was our second visit in two weeks to Topsy Farms! It’s is such a wonderful and welcoming place, our son would spend the entire day if he could! We were encouraged by our host to stay as long as we liked and with each visit we saw and appreciated something new, from Sally’s garden to the play area, the sheep/lambs and other animals and all the surrounding beauty. I have not knit anything since I was younger but picked up a Get Crafty Knitting Gift Box and am looking forward to knitting my poncho and showing our son what beautiful things can be made from the wool of the sheep he oh so loves. Topsy, our new affectionately named dinosaur stuffy now has a comfy home our son’s room, and the the beautiful children’s book Devlin Saves A Lamb" has found a special place in his library. Oh and I can’t forget the honey

We have visited Topsy a few times and have enjoyed every visit. The trails are lovely (and dog-on-leash friendly), the Scavenger Hunt was fun for the kids, we thoroughly enjoyed Sally’s Garden and of course the Wool Shed! Beautiful yarn that is a pleasure to knit and we have one of their gorgeous blankets. This summer we also did a kayak excursion with Kristin, a highlight of the summer. A must visit every time we are in the area!

The most wonderful family - they care so deeply and passionately about not only their sheep, but about each other, their farm, the land, the environment, and teaching others what they know. They are so incredibly open and kind and giving and super cool, all at the same time. We have volunteered at Topsy Farms during a couple of their lambing seasons and have felt so blessed to have been a part of their community. Highly recommend you take the fun ferry ride across to the island and go visit. It's the perfect excursion for kids and grandparents alike.
