Friends of the Rideau - The Depot | Friends of the Rideau works to enhance and preserve the heritage and charm of the Rideau Canal Waterway. The Rideau locks, opened in 1832, are still hand-operated at most of the 24 lockstations. The Rideau Canal stretches 202 kilometers from Kingston to Ottawa in Ontario, Canada.

Little shop with souvenirs in it. Informative little museum with staff on site to answer your questions. Public washrooms. Canoe rentals available here.

The Depot - Friends of the Rideau
The friends of the Rideau is more than just a souvenir store. It’s a real education on the Rideau river system. But in this immediate area public washrooms are scarcity and this place now has washrooms open to the public that are absolutely impeccable. Beautifully maintained, super clean, new and nice. Hats off to someone who thought of the public, saw a need and filled it. Fantastic place for boaters to visit with easy access. No charge, but there is a spot to leave a donation to help with the maintenance and the cost of the new washrooms, well worth it.
