ProGas was recommended to us to replace the log lighter in our wood burning/gas-fed fireplace. While trying to remove the old log lighter, the serviceman & his helper/apprentice not only broke the gas line inside the wall but then cut a large hole in the drywall next to the fireplace to attempt to get at it. When they couldn't get at the gas line that way, they were about to cut into the wall of fireplace shell when my husband stopped them. We had decided that they were incompetent and unable to properly complete/repair the work and told them to leave. We didn't hear a word from the company until an invoice was sent via email over 3 weeks later. Meanwhile, we had Fortis inspect the damage and the serviceman capped off the gas line - it was leaking! - and reported the fact that the company had failed to do so before leaving to the BC Safety dept. (We also had follow-up from the District of North Vancouver to ensure it was being repaired properly.) It was decided access would have to be obtained by cutting into the exterior wall of the house to repair the gas line. We then contacted another gas company and a home repair company and the damage was efficiently remediated at a further cost of over $700. If this company was not equipped and/or trained to do this type of gas fitting, we should have been informed and referred elsewhere. The lack of acknowledgement of their error and/or an apology and the failure to provide a solution and/or repair was very disappointing, but to be invoiced for $300 on top of all the added stress and cost was shocking. We do not recommend this company for any gas fitting repairs.

The technician (Mark) was very knowledgeable and showed us how a previous temporary repair to the air vent on the boiler could lead to pressure problems. I would have given a higher review except that I was not given a price estimate over the phone when I booked the repair. I was unaware that there were fixed rates for certain repairs that would be charged over and above the hourly rate for the visit. I would suggest that the telephone receptionist be given access to the fixed rates and that she inform the customer that the fixed rate charge is in addition to the hourly charge. Npte that we have been long time customers for maintenance of our boiler and fireplace.

I have always had good service from Pro Gas. Apparently fixing the fireplace was not easy and the technician didn’t want to return. He did though and the job was completed, thanks to him.Ben had to come back today as the pilot light went out. He was able to do a temporary fix until the new part arrives.

I fired this company over their horrible communications. I was a regular customer for a few years. I noticed a few years in a row that it when I attempted to book a routine annual service that it would take them one or two days just to return the call. I would call at 9 am and hear back from them at 5 pm the next day! This was not one time but almost every time over a period of years.They had various excuses, claiming a problem with their phones (and apparently their email wouldn’t work either since I couldn’t get them to answer it). Sometimes they would just say they were busy. Most customers understand that a company might not answer right away but you would expect them to call you back within the hour and not 32 hours later. This is simply consistently unacceptable bad service. I know several people who were trying to hire them who gave up and called someone else who can answer phone calls in a timely manner.I finally fired them after an attempt at getting routine gas fireplace inspection. It took 3 weeks to get an appointment. The service technician broke the fireplace. He said he needed a part to repair it. After 3 weeks he returned with the wrong part (incompetent). I then waited 3 more weeks (now 9 weeks in total) and didn’t hear back from them. I called and left a message and waited the usual 24 hours for them to respond. This is not acceptable. I explained that I just wanted an answer whether or not they were getting the part for repairs. It would have been okay if they had simply said they couldn’t get the part so as not to wasted any more of my time. Instead they said they were emailing the parts department and would get back to me. They never did. I hired someone else who promptly fixed the fireplace.It turns out if that if you ignore your customers enough times they will go away. This would make an excellent case study of epic failed customer service.
