Just returned to the area after an absence of several years, Big Daddy's is a wonderful piece of New Orleans inspired cooking in Ottawa. All the food was excellent, particularly the Perth spare ribs and the jambalaya. The portions were extra large, with the jambalaya having an entire chicken breast as well as a full Andouille sausage and 4 large shrimp. I was eating it the next day and it was still a full meal. Only downside was that the decor wasn't complete, but they're working on finishing it. Definitely going back!

I wouldn’t bother with this place. The server was friendly and helpful, but my entree was the worst I have ever had, at any restaurant. I got the tuna steak and it was clearly cooked while frozen, ending up tough, cold, and with an incredibly “off” taste. It was also served with a huge dollop of white, paste-like, sauce that had been half thawed from frozen, and that quickly swamped and chilled everything else on the plate. One bite, and I was done. To the restaurant’s credit, it refunded me for the disastrous entree. But still, I will never go back. And I would encourage others to pass on this place too.

I’ve eaten here two times to see if the first time was just a bad night. First time I ordered the steak and goat cheese salad and the steak was basically raw… and it was on a bed of spinach with barely any ingredients. They nicely took this off my bill. Second time I ordered just a plain walnut and feta salad and it was missing the pickled onions. I find they don’t actually have all the ingredients that is claimed on the menu. Disappointing as I had high hopes for a new restaurant in town.

This place is outstanding!! Beautifully updated from when it was the original Big Daddy's, incredible cocktails and ambiance, and the food and service are phenomenal. We had coconut shrimp, seafood fondue, seafood linguini and pot roast - all were a 10/10! Best spot for appys and cocktails or dinner - highly recommend!

Suprisingly delicious main courses (Jambalaya and Beef Short Rib)! Alligator bites were very tasty as well as oysters seemed fresh. They have plenty different hot sauces to try! Our server was lovely and came by frequently in the bar area.

So as an ole' timer big daddy's food lover.... I give this 3 stars... food on the menu is misleading.... the seafood fondue on this menu is no where near as good as the the original Big Daddy's seafood fondue... not even remotely good. I have perfected it myself over the years. LolI was super excited for this new big daddy's location. I think thousands of people in Ottawa have very high expectations for this to relate to the old Big Daddy's" food and atmosphere. To be clear... new owners.. new food

For only being a month old, I am so impressed. I rarely make reviews but this was worth it to do so. Such great happy hour prices - $6 wine, $9 calamari, first 10 oysters for $10, $ 12 lawn puppies for under $50. The oysters were fresh. The service was impeccable! Our server was incredibly welcoming and pleasant!

A welcome addition to the neighbourhood. Found it randomly while driving by. I've only had the calamari and a couple of pints so far, but the food was good and the happy hour prices (4-6pm) on food and drinks were great deals - one of the better happy hour menus I have seen in Ottawa. I am interested to try their oysters and some of the more Southern/Louisiana dishes. Not sure how authentic they will be yet but the inclusion of dishes with andouille and alligator on the menu is promising. Prices on oysters seem very reasonable as well and I will try them in the future. There was a good-sized happy hour crowd when I visited, which is a good sign in a residential neighbourhood just six weeks after opening. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. If the other dishes are as great at the calamari this may become a regular afternoon happy hour spot for me. The cocktail list is understandibly vodka focused, but beside the obligatory martini none of them appear alcohol-forward. This is probably a good call for the neighbourhood, but some stronger cocktail options would be welcome since vodka pairs well with seafood.
