Adam is an absolute gem. We were referred here urgently after our surgeon had his own injury the day before our girl's knee surgery. Adam worked quickly to have our girl seen as soon as possible and on priority basis. Pricing is excellent, comparable to our regular vet. Very happy to trust our girl into the care of these professionals. Thanks Adam and Dr. Kirsch.

This is my wife’s review which might save your pet’s life. Unfortunately, it keeps getting taken down:We are posting this in the hopes that no one will have to go through what our dog did and no dog owners will have to lose their pet prematurely. In April 2021, our dog had surgery at VCA to remove her spleen and do a liver biopsy. When we picked up our dog on the morning after the surgery, she did not look well, but they had said she was ok to go home. She died approximately 3 hours later as we tried to rush her back to Guelph. We are beyond heartbroken. She should not have died from this surgery. Our primary care vet was in shock that our dog had died from this surgery. Taking our dog to VCA was the Absolute Worst Decision of Our Lives. Here are the things we learned in the worst possible way:- Find out the warning signs to look for if your pet has trouble after a surgery. Our discharge papers contained no relevant information. Some examples of post surgery problems: Pale gums, Depression, Unsteady gait, Loss of appetite or decreased water intake, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Discharge or bleeding from the incision, Labored breathing.- Not everything is cancer. Get detailed information on why a vet is implying that a lesion is cancer. The chance of something being cancer can be very different if a lesion is found “incidentally” which our dog's was. Do your own research.- Make sure your dog has all vital signs checked right when you pick your dog up. There are actually dog collars that can monitor a dog’s vital signs – all vets should be buying those.

My dog, Rocky, a 6½-year-old male Labrador Retriever, ruptured the cranial cruciate ligament in the knee (stifle joint) of his left hind leg. I didn't see it happen, but there was some deep late winter snow with a crusty surface at the time. In any case, although there were other options nearer to my home, my local vet and I agreed on referral to the Guelph Veterinary Surgery Services and I am very happy with the results.Dr Laura Nutt was Rocky's surgeon. She and all of the associates with whom I dealt were both very professional and, at the same time, quite friendly and helpful to this client. Because of the travel distance involved, initial consultation, the surgery itself and subsequent release were scheduled for consecutive days. A copy of the referral follow-up report and extensive post-op care information was provided to me on Rocky's release. It was also agreed that our local vet would handle the suture removal and the 8-weeks post-op X-ray imaging with reports to Guelph for review and comment.Rocky appears to be recovering nicely. As often happens, there was some delay in his resumption of normal bowel movements, but adding some pure pumpkin to the dog's regular diet took care of that. Less than one week post-op, Rocky's walking pace, both indoors and on leash outside, is already improving quite markedly and he appears to be putting almost normal weight that leg. There has been no obvious sign of infection or separation problems with the surgery wound itself.Of course, Rocky will need to be kept under close watch for quite a while longer whenever he’s not resting in his “protective den” (a.k.a. the bathroom) with the door closed or on a leash to ascend or descend his outdoor exit/entry ramp. (Photo attached.) But I am very pleased with his progress and with the excellent veterinary surgery services provided.

Very caring, excellent communicators and excellent surgeon....Dr Bos, Adam is also a favorite of my dog Moxi. They got her in for surgery quickly and she had both back knees replaced and has been up and walking at 2 weeks. Was a very good experience.

Dr. Murphy did an excellent job repairing our dog's leg after he received a compound fracture when he was struck by a car. He is well on his way to recovery and we look forward to enjoying many more healthy years with our beloved friend. All positive to say about Dr. Murphy and her team.

My vet did an “urgent” referral here over a week ago. I followed up with them The following day to ensure they received the referral. They confirmed they did and I would be phoned by the next day with an appointment. 8 days later and I still have not received a call.

When other vets and surgeons refused to operate on our 8 year old dog's knees, Guelph Veterinary Surgery Services came to the rescue. Dr. Nutt was able to operate on both knees in one surgery, and three days later our dog is recovering very well. We are hopeful that this will give our dog her quality of life back.
